Our Holy Father Evschimon, Bishop of Lampsaki 1947, Christian teacher and confessor of Christ, leading a virtuous life from a young age, became a friend of God and, being a perfect man, made himself a temple of the Holy Spirit. Having accepted monasticism and devoted himself wholeheartedly to the Orthodox faith, he reached the heights of the episcopal rank and was filled with the grace of God. He was inflamed with Divine jealousy and defeated the heresy of the iconoclasts. At the same time, he performed great miracles. So, through prayer, he resurrected a dead baby, whom a crying mother brought to him. In addition, he instilled fear in wild animals, driving them away with one word when they tried to harm the herds. Emperor Theophilus, who patronized the iconoclasts, first ordered him to be imprisoned as a devotee of holy icons, a preacher and guardian of the Christian faith, and then sentenced him to exile, where he died in 1948. The city of Lampsacus was located in Phrygia, a northwestern province in Asia Minor, on the shores of the Hellespont, now the Dardannel Strait. The Monk Evskhimon died in the 9th century.
