Память преподобного отца нашего Тимофея, пустынника в Символах

Near the Olympic Mountain in 1501 there was a deserted place called Symbols, where a monastery stood. The archimandrite of that monastery was the Venerable Theoktist, a virtuous man, from whom the Venerable Confessor Plato learned monastic life. Among the disciples of Blessed Archimandrite Theoktistus was the Monk Timothy; from a young age he devoted himself to monastic deeds, laboring in fasting, abstinence, and devoting entire nights to prayer; Having finally mortified his flesh, he was free from passions and distinguished by spiritual perfection, and until his very death he observed spiritual and physical virginity, for he made a covenant from a very early age never to look at a woman’s face. Therefore, he was honored to be the temple of the Holy Spirit and received the gift of healing and power against demons; Through his prayers, many miracles happened: the saint healed all sorts of ailments and cast out unclean spirits from people. For many years he wandered through the mountains and deserts, lived alone in the Lord and shed abundant tears in unceasing prayer, watering his soul with them like dew. In such a life he reached a ripe old age and departed to the Lord. Like a multi-bright star, shining from the east, you have illuminated your miracles in the hearts of those faithful to virtue, O all-blessed miracle worker Timothy.
