It's time to talk about the books of the New Testament. Take only four Gospels: Matthew, then Mark, add the third Luke to it, consider John fourth in time, and first in the height of dogmas; for I rightly call him the son of thunder: he thundered louder than anyone else about the Word of God. Take also the second book of Luke, the book of the ecumenical Acts of the Apostles. After this, add the vessel of election, the preacher of tongues, the Apostle Paul, who in wisdom wrote fourteen epistles to the churches: one to the Romans, to which should be added two epistles to the Corinthians, one to the Galatians, one to the Ephesians, after that one to those living in Philippi, then one written to the Colossians, two to the Thessalonians, and two to Timothy, also to Titus and Philemon, one epistle to each, and one to the Hebrews. Some call the book of Hebrews a counterfeit, but they say it unjustly, because it contains genuine grace. What else remains? According to some, there should be seven conciliar epistles, and according to others, only three: one of James, one of Peter and one of John; some accept three epistles of John, two of Peter, and, in addition, the seventh epistle of Judas. In a similar way, others consider the Apocalypse of John, and many call it a forgery (2). The gospel is the preaching of a new salvation (2). You might be interested in:
