Know also another light, with which the primeval darkness is reflected or suppressed - this first basis of the heavenly creation, that is, both the circular paths of the stars and the mountain guard, embracing the whole world with radiance. The original commandment given to the firstborn was light, because a commandment is a lamp, and instruction is light (Prov. 6:23), and like light are Your commandments on earth (see Isa. 26:9), although the envious darkness, having invaded, produced sin (1). The commandment and God must be your measure (2). The law is a judicial determination of what I should do, and the commandment is the Sovereign command (2). The One who fills everything and is Himself above all, Who makes the mind wise and avoids impulses of the mind, carrying me to new heights with the very thing that constantly eludes me - especially keep this God in mind and honor, proving your love by zeal for the commandments (2).
