Prayers for Holy Trinity Day with translation and emphasis
Prayers for Trinity Day in Greek
“After the Liturgy on the day of the Holy Trinity (also called Pentecost, or the Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles), Vespers is celebrated according to the usual plan. At this Vespers, three prayers are read with kneeling. These prayers were composed by St. Basil the Great (329–379).
In the first prayer, we confess our sins to the Heavenly Father and ask Him to have mercy on us for the sake of the great sacrifice of His son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
In the 2nd prayer we ask the Lord to grant us the Divine Spirit.
In the 3rd prayer, we ask the Lord, who descended into hell and crushed the power of the devil, to rest our departed fathers and brothers in a brighter place, in a greener place, in a place of peace.
(N.R. Antonov: Church of God and Church Services, 1912, St. Petersburg).
Most pure, undefiled, without beginning, invisible, incomprehensible, unsearchable, unfailing, invincible, innumerable, gentle Lord, who alone has immortality, living in the light unapproachable, having created the sky and the earth, and the sea, and everything created on them, before you ask, give petitions to everyone, We pray to You, and we ask You, Lord, Lover of Mankind, Father of the Lord and God and our Savior Jesus Christ, for us for the sake of men, and for our salvation, who came down from heaven, and was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and Mary Ever-Virgin, and the Most Glorious Mother of God, and first teaching words, then showing deeds, when we have endured the saving passion, give us a signature, as Thy humble, sinful, and unworthy servants, to bring prayers to You, in on their knees and knees, about their sins, and about people’s ignorance.
Most merciful and most loving of mankind, hear us, let us call upon You even more often on this fiftieth day, after the Ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven, and His sitting at Your right hand. God and the Father, sent down the Holy Spirit on His holy disciples and apostles, who sat on one of them, and were filled with all His inexhaustible grace, and spoke in tongues in other ways Your greatness and prophecy.
Now, those who pray to You, hear us, and remember us, the humble and condemned, and return the captivity of our souls, having Your mercy prayed for us. Receive us, who fall before You and cry: We have sinned, We have been committed to You from the womb, from the womb of our mother, You are our God.
But as our days have disappeared in the vanity, we are naked of Your help, deprived of any answer, but daring in Your bounty, we call: the sins of our youth and ignorance are not Remember, and cleanse us from our secrets, and do not deny us in time of old age, when our strength becomes impoverished, do not leave us, before we even return to the earth, grant us permission to return to You, and Give us favor and grace. Measure our iniquities with Your bounty, and set the abyss of Your bounty against the multitude of our sins.
Look down from Thy holy height, Lord, upon Thy people who are to come, and upon those who expect rich mercies from Thee.
Visit us with Your goodness, deliver us from the violence of the devil, establish our life with Your saints and sacred laws.
Angela, a faithful guardian for Your people, gather everyone into Your Kingdom.
Grant forgiveness to those who trust in You, forgive them and our sins.
Purify us through the action of Your Holy Spirit, destroy the wiles of the enemy against us.
Translation: Most pure, immaculate, beginningless, invisible, incomprehensible, unsearchable, unchangeable, irresistible, immeasurable, good-natured Lord, who alone has immortality, who dwells in the unapproachable light, who created heaven, and earth, and the sea, and everything created in them, who gives to everyone what they ask before asking, We pray to You and we call upon You, Lord Lover of Mankind, The Father of the Lord and God and our Savior Jesus Christ, for the sake of us people and for our salvation, who came down from heaven and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the Ever-Virgin Mary and the glorious Mother of God. He, first teaching with words, and then showing and deeds, when He endured saving suffering, gave us, Your humble, sinful and unworthy servants, an example of offering prayers with bowing of head and knees for our own sins and for the sins of ignorance of the people.
Yourself, much merciful and Lover of mankind, hear us, no matter what day we call on You, especially on this day of Pentecost, on which, after the ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ into heaven, when He sat down at the right hand of You, God and the Father, and sent down upon His holy disciples and Apostles the Holy Spirit, Who rested on each of them, and they were all filled with inexhaustible His grace and began to speak in other tongues about Your great deeds and to prophesy.
So now, hear us praying, and remember us, humble and condemned, and free our souls from captivity, having Your own compassion interceding for us. Accept us, who fall to You and cry: “We have sinned!” We were left to You from our mother’s womb, from our mother’s womb, You are our God. But, since our days have passed in vanity, we are left without Your help and deprived of any justification, however, boldly hoping for Your mercy, we cry out: “Do not remember the sin of our youth and ignorance and cleanse us from our secret deeds, do not reject us during old age, do not abandon us when our strength is impoverished; before we return to the earth, deign us to turn to You and pay attention to us with favor and mercy; measure our iniquities by Thy mercy; set the depth of Your mercy against the multitude of our sins; look from Your holy height at Your people standing around and waiting for Your abundant mercy. Visit us in Your goodness, deliver us from the violence of the devil, establish our life with Your holy and sacred laws.
Entrust your people to your faithful guardian angel; Gather us all into Your Kingdom, give forgiveness to those who trust in You; forgive them and us their sins, cleanse us through the action of the Holy Spirit, destroy the machinations of the enemy against us.
The first prayer is also joined by this
Blessed are you, Lord, Master Almighty, who enlightened the day with the light of the sun, and who made the night clear with fiery dawns, who made the length of the day like us, and who draws near with the beginning of the night, Hear our prayers, and those of all Your people, and forgive us all our voluntary and involuntary sins. Accept our evening prayers, and send down a multitude of Thy mercy and Thy bounty upon Thy property.
Shade us with Thy holy angels, arm us with the weapons of Thy truth, protect us with Thy truth, protect us with Thy power, deliver us from every situation, every slander. opposite.
Grant us this evening, with the coming night, perfect, holy, peaceful, sinless, temptationless, dreamless, and all the days of our life, through the prayers of the Holy Mother of God, and all the saints from centuries who have pleased You.
Translation: Blessed are You, Lord, the Lord Almighty, who illuminated the day with the light of the sun and illuminated the night with the radiance of fire, deigning us to go through the length of the day and approach the beginning of the night. Hear the prayers of ours and of all Your people and, having forgiven all of us our voluntary and involuntary sins, accept our evening prayers, and send down a multitude of Your mercy and Your compassion upon Your inheritance. Protect us like a wall with Your holy Angels; Arm us with the weapons of Your righteousness; protect us with Your truth; preserve us by Thy power; deliver us from every attack and every deceit of the enemy; make for us this evening with the coming night perfect, holy, peaceful, sinless, without temptations, without dreams - like all the days of our life, through the prayers of the Holy Mother of God and all the saints who have pleased You from the ages.
According to the special litany, the second prayer
Lord Jesus Christ our God, Thy peace given by man, and the gift of the Most Holy Spirit, still in life and with us, forever giving as an inalienable inheritance to the faithful, most manifestly this I have sent down grace to Your disciple and apostle this day, and established these tongues with fiery lips, and the whole human race has received the knowledge of God with its tongue in the hearing of the ear, enlightened by the light of the Spirit, and the charms of darkness have changed, and the sensual and fiery tongues of dispensation, and the natural action, even in You we learn faith, and to worship You with the Father and the Holy Spirit, in one Let us be illuminated by divinity, and strength, and power.
You, the Father’s radiance, the essence and nature of His unchanging and immovable mark, the source of wisdom and grace, open your mouth to me, a sinner, and teach me what is worthy, and about them I need to pray, for You are aware of my many sins, but Your compassion will overcome these immeasurable ones.
Behold, I stand before You with fear, I have plunged the despair of my soul into the abyss of Your mercy, feed my belly with the word of all creation with ineffable wisdom, rule by power, quietly overcome shelter, and tell me the way, I’ll go.
Give the Spirit of Thy wisdom to my thoughts, grant the Spirit of understanding to my madness, grant my autumn deeds with the Spirit of Thy fear, and renew the Right Spirit in my womb, and with the Sovereign Spirit Strengthen my thoughts, so that I may be guided every day by Your Good Spirit to do what is beneficial, I will be worthy to do Your commandments, and to remember Your glorious coming, and the torment of what we have done.
And do not despise me with the corruptible temptations of this world, but desire to strengthen the treasures of future perceptions. You have declared, Master, that if anyone asks for Your name, he accepts from Your ever-present God and Father without recourse. Moreover, I am a sinner at the coming of Your Holy Spirit, I pray for Your goodness, O Lord I have asked, reward me with salvation.
By all means, Lord, you are rich in every good deed, and you are a good giver, for you are the one who gives abundantly to all we ask, and you are compassionate and merciful, having been sinless to our flesh. fellow-companion, and to those who bow their knees to You, bow down, O kindly, for the cleansing of our sins.
Lord, grant to your people your generosity, hear us from your holy heaven, sanctify us with the power of your saving right hand, cover us with the blood of your wing, so that despise the work of Your hand.
We sin against You alone, but we also serve You alone. We cannot bow down to a foreign god; we cannot stretch our hands below, O Lord, to another god.
Forgive us our sins, and accept our kneeling prayer, extend a helping hand to all of us, accept the prayer of everyone like a pleasant censer, acceptable before Your all-blessed Kingdom.
Translation: Lord Jesus Christ our God, who communicated Thy peace and the gift of the All-Holy Spirit to people, even in His earthly life and while being with us, always giving this to the faithful as an inalienable inheritance, but especially clearly on this day He sent down this grace to His disciples and Apostles and armed their lips with tongues of fire. Through them, we, the entire human race, having heard and perceived the knowledge of God in our own language with our own ears, were illuminated by the light of the Spirit, and were delivered from error as if from darkness, and through the dispensation and supernatural action of perceptible senses and fiery tongues, we learned faith in You and were enlightened to recognize You as God with the Father and the Holy Spirit in one Divinity, and power, and authority. You, the radiance of the Father, the unchanging and unshakable outline of His being and nature, the source of wisdom and grace, open my sinner’s mouth and teach me how and what I should pray for. You know the great multitude of my sins, but Your mercy will overcome their immeasurability.
For behold, I stand before You with fear, having plunged the despair of my soul into the abyss of Your mercy: guide my life like a helmsman, in one word, guide all creation with the ineffable power of Your wisdom, a quiet haven for those tossed by the storm, and show me the path along which I should go. Communicate the Spirit of Your wisdom to my thoughts, Granting the Spirit of reason to my folly; With the spirit of fear before You, renew my autumn deeds, renew the right Spirit in my insides, and with the sovereign Spirit strengthen the instability of my way of thinking, so that, guided by Your good Spirit towards usefulness, I may be worthy to fulfill Your commandments every day and always remember Your glorious and convicting coming of what we have done.
And do not let me be seduced by the perishing joys of this world, but strengthen us to the desire to enjoy future treasures. You said, Master, that no matter what anyone asks in Your name, he will freely receive from Your co-eternal God and Father; Therefore, I, a sinner, on the day of the coming of Your Holy Spirit, I beg Your goodness: whatever I ask, grant me salvation! Yes, Lord, generously charitable and good Giver of every good deed, since You most abundantly give what we ask! You are compassionate, merciful, having become a partaker of our sinless flesh, and lovingly bowing your knees to those who kneel before You, and having become the propitiation for our sins! Show, O Lord, Thy mercy to Thy people, hear us from Thy holy heaven, sanctify us with the power of Thy saving right hand, cover us under the shelter of Thy wings: may Thou not despise the works of Thy hands. We sin against You alone, but we serve You alone.
We do not know how to bow down to a foreign god, nor stretch out our hands, O Lord, to another god. Forgive us for our sins and, having accepted our kneeling prayers, extend a helping hand to all of us, accept the prayer of everyone as a pleasant incense accepted before Your most good Kingdom.
The second prayer is also joined by this
Lord Lord, deliver us from every arrow that flies throughout the days. Deliver us from every passing thing in darkness. Accept the evening sacrifice from our hands. Grant us also to pass through the night without blemish, without being tempted by the evil ones. And deliver us from all confusion and fear that comes to us from the devil.
Grant to our souls tenderness and care to our thoughts, even at Your terrible and righteous judgment. Nail our fear to Thy fear, and put to death our souls that exist on the earth. Yes, and through sleepy silence we will be enlightened by the sight of Your destinies.
Take away from us every inappropriate dream and harmful lust. Rise us up during prayer, established in the faith, and abiding in Your commandments.
Translation: Lord, Lord, who delivered us from every arrow that flies by day, deliver us and from every danger that wanders in the darkness, accept the evening sacrifice - our offerings. Make us worthy to walk the night’s path blamelessly without experiencing evil, and deliver us from all confusion and fear that happens to us from the devil. Grant to our souls contrition and to our thoughts concern for the test at Thy judgment, terrible and righteous. Nail our flesh with fear of You and mortify our earthly members, so that even in sleepy silence we may be enlightened by the contemplation of Your judgments. Remove from us every obscene and destructive lust, and raise us up in the hour of prayer, confirmed in faith and successful in fulfilling Your commandments.
According to the small litany, the third prayer
The ever-flowing, animal, and enlightening source, the co-existent creative power of the Father, who perfectly fulfills all the vision for human salvation, Christ our God, the bonds of death insoluble, and unraveling the rivets of hell, and trampling many wicked spirits. Thou hast given for us an immaculate slaughter, and given a most pure body as a sacrifice, untouchable and impenetrable by all sin, and by this terrible and inscrutable sacrament gives us eternal life gifted, descended into hell, and crushed the eternal faiths, and showed the sunrise in darkness to those who sit, but caught the beginning of the evil and deep serpent with God-wielding flattery, and with chains of darkness bound in Tartarus and unquenchable fires, and in the darkness of Thy innumerable darkness, strengthened the fortress, the great Wisdom of the Father, the Great Helper who appeared and enlightened those who were guided by sitting in darkness and the shadow of death.
You are the ever-present glory of the Lord, and the Father Most High, beloved Son, ever-present Light from the ever-present Light, Sun of Truth, hear us praying to You, and give rest to our souls Thy servants, our fathers and our brothers before the departed, and the rest of us kinsmen in the flesh, and all our own in the faith, of whom we create a memory today, for in You is the power of all, and in the hand Yours will support all the ends of the earth.
Master Almighty, God the Father and Lord of mercy, of the mortal and immortal race, and of every human nature to the Creator, who is composed, and is also resolved, life and endings, even here stays, and even there transformations, measure summer by the living, and establish times of death, bring you down to hell and raise them up, bind you in weakness, and let them go in strength, present Build as needed, and manage the future usefully, cheer the mortal sting of the wounded with hopes of resurrection.
He Himself is the Lord of all, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth, and of those who are far off in the sea, and on this last and great day of salvation, the feast of Pentecost, the mystery of the Holy and Consubstantial, and the co-existent, and inseparable, and unmerged Trinity, showing us the influx and coming of Thy Holy and Life-giving Spirit, in the form of tongues of fire on Thy holy Apostles pouring out, and establishing those evangelists, pious people of our faith, and demonstrating confessors and preachers of the true theology.
And on this all-perfect and saving holiday, prayer for cleansing, for those held in hell likewise to receive, give us great hope of weakening those who contain us from those who contain us. I am filthy, and I seek consolation from You. Hear us, the humble, and Your servants praying to You, and rest the souls of Your servants, before the dead, in a place of light, in a place of greenery, in a place of coolness, from a place of darkness flee from all sickness, sorrow and sighing, and make their spirits in the villages of the righteous, and give them peace and weakness, for not the dead will praise Thee, O Lord, below those who exist in hell They dare to bring confession to You, but we, the living, bless You and pray, and offer cleansing prayers and sacrifices to You for their souls.
Translation: The inexhaustibly flowing, life-giving and enlightening Source, the creative Power co-eternal with the Father, who perfectly completed all the construction of the salvation of people, Christ our God, who broke the insoluble bonds of death and the constipations of hell, who trampled down many evil spirits, who brought Himself to the immaculate slaughter for us, who gave as a sacrifice His most pure body, inviolable for any sin and inaccessible, and with this terrible and inexplicable sacred rite he gave us eternal life; descended into hell and broke the eternal bars, and showed those sitting in darkness the way to return from there; the instigator of evil, who caught the deep serpent with the divinely wise bait, and bound him with the shackles of darkness in Tartarus, and imprisoned him in the unquenchable fire and in the outer darkness with Your infinitely powerful power; the great Wisdom of the Father, who appeared as a great Helper for those under attack, who enlightened those who sat in darkness and the shadow of death.
You, Lord of the inexhaustible glory and the Most High Father, beloved Son, eternal Light from the eternal Light, Sun of righteousness, hear us praying to You, and give rest to the souls of Your servants, our fathers and brothers who have fallen before us, and other relatives according to the flesh, and all our relatives by faith, of whom we now commemorate, since You have power over everything and You hold in Your hand all the borders of the earth.
Lord Almighty, God of the fathers and Lord of mercy, Creator of the mortal as well as the immortal race, and of all human nature, composed and disintegrating again; Creator of life, as well as death, stay here and death there, measuring out the years of the living and setting the time of death, bringing down to hell and leading out from there, binding with weakness and liberating with power, arranging the present according to the needs of everyone and directing the future to benefit; those struck down by the sting of death, reviving them with hopes of resurrection!
Yourself, the Lord of all, God our Savior, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of those who are far at sea, You, on this last, great and saving day of Pentecost, revealed to us the mystery of the holy, consubstantial, coeternal, indivisible and unconfused Trinity, and the coming and manifestation of Your holy and life-giving Spirit in the form of tongues of fire upon Your holy Apostles, and made them evangelists. our pious faith, and who have shown themselves to be confessors and heralds of true theology; On this final and saving holiday, You have deigned to accept propitiatory prayers for those held in hell and give us great hopes for sending the departed relief from the sorrows that depress them and consolation from You!
Hear us, the humble and in need of Your compassion, and rest the souls of Your servants who have fallen before the dead in a place of light, in a place of bliss, in a place of joy, from where all pain, sorrow and groaning have departed, and place their spirits in the abodes of the righteous, and grant them peace and relief, because it is not the dead who will praise You, Lord, and not those who dare in hell bring confession to You, but we who are alive bless You and pray and offer propitiatory prayers and sacrifices to You for their souls.
The third prayer is also joined by this
Great and eternal God, Holy, loving of mankind, who has made us worthy at this hour to stand before Your unapproachable glory, to sing and praise Your miracles, cleanse us unworthy servants Yours, and grant grace to even the contrite heart, to bring You the Trisagion of praise, and thanksgiving for Your great gifts, which You have created for us, and do always in us.
Remember, Lord, our weakness, and do not destroy us through our iniquities, but create great mercy with our humility, so that we may escape the darkness of sin and walk in the days of righteousness, and Having clothed ourselves with the weapons of light, we will abide hatefully from all the wiles of the evil one, and with boldness we will glorify for everyone, You, the only true and Lover of Mankind.
For Yours is truly and a great mystery, Lord of all, and Creator, the temporary solution of Your creatures, and even now copulation, and rest forever.
We confess grace to you for all, for our coming into this world and our going out, the hope of resurrection and imperishable life for us, with your unfalse promise we are promised what we will receive in the future Your second coming. For You are the Leader of our resurrection, and the unwashed and humane-loving Judge of those who have lived, and the Master and Lord of rewards, Who also has shared with us sincerely of flesh and blood, condescension For the sake of the extreme, and our passions are unnoticeable, sometimes we will put ourselves into temptation, we accept generosity as mercy, and in it you yourself suffered, having been tempted, having become our self-promised helper to those who were tempted, In the same way, Thou hast conferred us with Thy dispassion.
Accept, Master, our prayers and supplications, and rest in peace all fathers, and mothers, and children, and brothers, and only-begotten sisters, and married ones, and all the souls that have departed before, in set forth the hopes of the resurrection of eternal life among their spirits, and their names in the book of the living things, in the bowels of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the land of the living, in the Kingdom of Heaven, in Paradise sweets, Thy bright angels, leading us all into Thy holy abodes, co-raising our bodies on the day that Thou hast appointed according to Thy saints and unfaithful promises.
For, Lord, there is no death for your servants, coming to us from the body, and coming to you our God, but death from the saddest to the most useful, and the sweetest, and to peace and joy.
And even if we have sinned against You, be merciful to us and to those who are pure before You from filth, even if there is only one day of his life, unless You are the only one who appeared sinless on earth Our Lord Jesus Christ, in whom we all hope to receive mercy and forgiveness of sins.
For this reason, for our sake and for our sake, as God is Good and Lover of Mankind, weaken, forsake, forgive our fall into sin, voluntary and involuntary, even in knowledge and not in knowledge, presented and forgotten, even in in deeds, in thoughts, in words, in all our lives and movements.
And grant to those who have departed freedom and relaxation, but bless us who are here, granting us and all Your people a good and peaceful end, and opening the womb of mercy and love for mankind to us, in the terrible and Your terrible coming, and make us worthy of Your Kingdom.
Translation: Great and eternal God, holy and loving of mankind, Who has deigned us at this hour to stand before Your unapproachable glory to sing and praise Your wonders! Have mercy on us, Thy unworthy servants, and grant grace with a contrite heart, without hesitation, to offer Thee the thrice-holy praise and thanksgiving for Thy great gifts that Thou hast performed and always performs for us.
Remember, Lord, our weakness and do not destroy us with our iniquities, but create Your great mercy with our humility, so that, having escaped the darkness of sin, we walk in the day of righteousness and, having put on the armor of light, remain protected from all harmful wiles of the evil one and boldly glorify You for everything, the only true and man-loving God. For how truly and truly great, Lord of all and Creator, is Your mystery: both the disintegration for the time of Your creations, and after that the union and rest for ever! We give You gratitude for everything: for our entry into this world and for our departure from it, which, according to Your false promise, strengthens our hopes for resurrection and incorruptible life, which we will enjoy at Your second future coming.
For You are both the Forerunner of our resurrection, and the incorruptible and humane Judge of those who lived, and the Lord and Lord of reward, and the One who, like us, became partaker of flesh and blood through extreme condescension, and our innocent passions, having deigned to voluntarily experience them, accepted them out of His deep mercy, and in what He Himself endured, having been tempted, He became voluntary to us, the tempted ones. a helper, and therefore brought us all together into His dispassion. Accept, O Lord, our prayers and supplications and give rest to all the fathers, each of us, and mothers, brothers, sisters, and children, and other relatives and brothers-in-law, and all the souls who previously rested in the hope of resurrection and eternal life, and place their spirits and names in the book of life, in the bosom of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, in the land of the living, in the Kingdom of Heaven, in paradise sweet, leading them all through Your bright Angels into Your holy abodes, resurrecting our bodies together on the day that You have appointed, according to Your holy and false promises.
This is not death for Your servants, Lord, when we move away from the body and return to You, God, but it is only a migration from something more painful to something better and more pleasant, to peace and joy. If in any way we have sinned before You, be merciful to us and to them, since no one is clean from filth before You, even if his life lasted for one day, except You alone, who appeared on earth sinless, our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we all hope to receive mercy and remission of sins. Therefore, for us and for them, as a good and humane God, relax, let go, forgive our sins, voluntary and involuntary, committed consciously and out of ignorance, obvious and hidden, in deed, in thought, in word, in our entire way of life and spiritual movements. And grant freedom and relief to those who have passed away, but bless us who are here, giving us a good and peaceful death, as well as all Your people, and revealing the depths of Your mercy and love for mankind to us at Your terrible and terrible coming, and make us worthy of Your Kingdom.
The third prayer is joined by another
God, the great and highest, alone has immortality, in the living, unapproachable light, creating all creation with wisdom, dividing in the midst of light and in the midst of darkness. And he placed the sun in the region of the day, and the moon and stars in the region of the night.
Making us, sinners, worthy, on this day, to precede Your face in confession, and to offer an evening service to You. O Lord Himself, who love mankind, correct our prayer, as incense is before You, and receive it into the stench of fragrance.
Give us the present evening and the coming night of peace, equip us with the weapons of light, deliver us from the fear of the night, and from every thing that passes in darkness. And grant us sleep, which you have granted for the repose of our weakness, from every dream of the devil.
To her, Master, giver of all good things, so that on our beds we will remember with tenderness and in the night your most holy name. And with the teaching of Your commandments illuminated, in the joy of our souls we will rise to the praise of Your goodness, prayers and supplications to Your compassion for our sins, and for all people Yours, and through the prayers of the Most Holy Theotokos, visit them in mercy.
Translation: Great and high God, the One who has immortality, who lives in the unapproachable light, who created all creation wisely, who separated light from darkness and set the sun to rule the day, and the moon and stars to rule the night, who has deigned us, sinners, to appear before Your face in praise at this present hour and to bring the evening praise to You! Thyself, O Lord who loves mankind, direct our prayer like incense before Thy face, accept it as a pleasant aroma; Give us this evening and the coming night of peace, clothe us in the armor of light, deliver us from the fear of the night and from all danger wandering in the darkness, and make the sleep that You have given to strengthen our weaknesses uninvolved in any devilish obsession.
Yes, Lord of all, good Giver, so that even on our beds, lamenting, we remember Your name at night and, enlightened by meditation on Your commandments, we rise in the joy of our souls to glorify Your goodness, supplicate and pray to You, the merciful, offering for the sins of ours and of all Your people, whom You, through the prayers of the Holy Mother of God, have graciously visited.
