I present to you, to the best of my ability, the omniscience of God... God knows everything, not only the present, but also the future. There is no creature hidden from Him, but everything is naked and open before His eyes (Heb. 4:13). The Lord looked from heaven and saw all the sons of men. From His prepared dwelling, He looked at all those living on earth, He who created their hearts specially and delves into all their deeds (Ps. 33:13-15). You found out when I sit down and stand up. You understood my thoughts from afar. You have searched my path and my path, and You have foreseen all my paths. And further: for the darkness will not be dark from You, and the night will be as bright as the day. And further: Your eyes have seen my unfinished things, and in Your book all people will be written (Ps. 139: 1-3, 12, 16). From this holy teaching we learn: 1. God knows all created things and penetrates them. 2. He looks at all our deeds and thoughts and hears our words. God does not have eyes and ears, since he is incorporeal and has a spirit, but is all eye and all ear for the sake of all-perfect understanding and knowledge. He sees and hears everything, Who created the eye to see and the ear to hear. Doesn't he who made the ear hear? or Does not He who created the eye see (Ps. 93:9)? 3. There is no hidden or dark place before Him, but everything is clear to Him. There is no darkness and no night, but always a clear day: and night before Him is like day, and darkness is like light. With us there is night and day, darkness and light, but with God there is always day and light, he sees equally both night and day, and both in darkness and in light, what is done. If the thought sees it, then how much more does it work. For it is a greater miracle to see a thought than a deed done in darkness. 4. No matter how many people there are in the world, He knows the word, deed and thought of each of them, and looks and takes note. Moreover, every person’s word, deed and thought, done day or night, are so clearly known to Him, as if only he was looking at and listening to him, leaving all other creatures to watch only him... 5. Whatever a person does, thinks and says, good or evil, he writes it all in his book and rewards everyone according to his deeds... Not only does he know and discern our present word, deed and thought, but also what we will do, say, think and plot and begin and at what time, hour and day - he knows everything completely from eternity itself. Wanting to imagine the omniscience of God... I offer you more about this, so that it will be more deeply rooted in our hearts. As soon as you want to start and do something, remember that God is with you and already knows your thoughts, and so judge whether your undertaking is in accordance with the will and law of God or contrary. If you agree, then call on Him for help, pray, saying: “Lord, bless and help,” and start and do it. When you clearly see that this is disgusting to Him, then restrain yourself and also pray to Him, saying: “Lord, help me.” God, seeing your will, and desire for good, and aversion from evil, and diligence, will give His helping hand. People, wanting to commit lawlessness, look for hidden places. Fornicators and thieves love the night and darkness. Covetous and bribe-takers secretly take bribes. Cunning people, cunning people, flatterers, hypocrites and evildoers hide their evil within themselves and do all dark deeds in darkness as sons of darkness. For everyone who does evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds be exposed, because they are evil (John 3:20). All such are trying to hide, but the poor are deceived, for they are hiding from people, but from God, Who is the light brighter than any light and the witness of their atrocities, they cannot hide anywhere and in any way, since He is everywhere with them, and sees all their atrocities, and writes them down in His book, and will reward them according to their deeds. The Prophet of God cries out to such: woe to those who think to hide in the depths in order to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their deeds in darkness and say: “Who will see us? and who will recognize us? (Isa. 29:15). Can a person hide in a secret place where I cannot see him? - says the Lord. Do I not fill the heavens and the earth? - says the Lord (Jer. 23, 24). Always keep in your mind the above word: where will I go from Your Spirit (Ps. 139:7), and so on, and that which is from God not only in the cage 12, in darkness, in the night, in the earth and under the earth, in the depths and in hell, but also in the secret of the heart it is impossible to hide, since it is naked and hidden before His eyes (Heb. 4:13). Also, when you want to do something, remember that God knows why you want to do it and why. If you shy away from evil and do good, then think again about what and what reason prompts you to do this, namely, God’s will and honor or your own benefit, human praise and vanity, the fear of God or the fear of man - God knows all this. Remember that everything is displeasing to God, everything that is not done for God’s sake. And one must avoid evil and do good for the sake of God, since He forbade one thing and commanded another, does not want one thing, but wants another, is offended by some, and pleased by others. And to man, as we see, what is not done for his sake is unpleasant, and even more so to God, Who subtly and completely penetrates our deeds and undertakings. So, it is necessary to correct the heart and teach it so that it submits to the will of God, and loves the will of God, and follows it, and not its own wisdom and lust. The cage is a closet, a barn, a pantry.
