Do you remember that our God is in every place, and you walk before Him, and He looks at you, and sees your deeds, and hears your words? Whatever you do, say, think, you do everything before His holy eyes. Do you honor Him with your actions, as children give to their present father, slaves to their present master, and subjects to their present sovereign? It is shamelessness and great fury to not pay homage to Him Who is above all honor. Be ashamed to act outrageously before an honest man, especially before God. You are afraid to sin before your father, master, ruler and king, especially before God, the King of kings and Lord of lords. You do not see Him, but He sees you and looks at you (see Ps. 32:13-14; Job 28:24); You do not hear Him, but He hears you; You do not touch Him, but He contains you in His almighty hand. All the ends of the earth are in His hand (Ps. 94:4). If all the ends of the earth are in His hand, then I and you and everyone are in His hand, that is, everyone who is in different ends of the earth. Hear this, my soul, and honor your Creator as a dear Father. It is shameless, it is an annoyance for the monarch to act outrageously in front of him. Every lawlessness, committed in deed, or word, or thought, is disorder before God, and is an annoyance to Him, and harm to us. Pay attention to yourself. Whether you commit fornication in deed or in thought, whether you steal and abduct, deceive, flatter, lie, slander, blaspheme your neighbor, and commit other iniquities, you commit outrage in the eyes of God, and therefore you act shamelessly before God’s greatness, and you annoy Him and harm yourself.
