This is the proof that I have within myself of the resurrection of human bodies! If the body is capable of spiritual sensations, if it can, together with the soul, participate in the consolation of grace, if from here it can become a partaker of grace, then how can it not be resurrected to eternal life according to the teaching of Scripture? The bodies of the saints of God were salted with grace, and corruption could not touch them! By their victory over corruption they have already begun their resurrection; by exuding healing, they prove the grace present in them and the eternal life living in them, which must in due time be developed in the glorious resurrection destined and given to mankind by our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. If it were possible to find a person who did not know the transformations produced by the changes of the seasons, if you brought this wanderer into the garden, which majestically rests in the sleep of death during winter, showed him the naked trees and told him about the luxury in which they will be clothed in the spring, then instead of answering he would look at you and smile - such an impossible fable would seem to him your words! Likewise, the resurrection of the dead seems incredible to the wise, wandering in the darkness of earthly wisdom, who did not know that God is omnipotent, that His manifold wisdom can be contemplated, but not comprehended by the mind of creatures. Everything is possible for God: there are no miracles for Him. Man's thinking is weak: what we are not used to seeing seems to us an impossible thing, an incredible miracle. The works of God, which we constantly and now indifferently look at, are wondrous works, great miracles, incomprehensible. And every year nature repeats before the eyes of all mankind the doctrine of the resurrection of the dead, depicting it with a transformative mysterious action! The first resurrection is accomplished through two Sacraments: Baptism and Repentance. Through holy Baptism, the soul is resurrected from the grave of unbelief and wickedness or from original sin and one’s own sins committed in wickedness, and through Repentance, an already believing soul is resurrected from death inflicted on it by mortal sins or a careless, lustful life after Baptism. The performer of the resurrection is the Holy Spirit. Saint John the Theologian saw those resurrected from spiritual death and said about them: “And I saw thrones and those sitting on them, to whom it was given to judge, and the souls of those who were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, who did not worship the beast or his image, and did not receive the mark on their foreheads or on their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years" ... "This is the first resurrection" (Rev. 20:4-5), consisting in the revival of the soul from its death by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in the washing away of sins by holy Baptism, in life according to the will of Christ and in the cleansing by repentance of sins committed after Baptism. The thrones of the saints are their dominance over the passions, over the demons themselves, over human ailments, over the elements, over animals, the abundance of their spiritual gifts. They have been given judgment, that is, spiritual reasoning, with which they denounce sin, no matter how it is covered up by appearances, and reject it. They have been given a court by which they judge the angels of darkness who take the form of Angels, and do not allow them to deceive themselves. They did not worship either the beast or its icon: neither the Antichrist, nor the persecutors of Christianity who represented him, who demanded that Christians renounce Christ and reject His all-holy commandments. They did not accept the marks of the enemy of God either on their foreheads or on their right hands, but, having assimilated the mind of Christ, they constantly expressed it in their way of thinking and in their way of acting, not sparing their blood to seal fidelity to Christ, and therefore they reigned with Christ. There is no death for them! For them, the separation of the soul from the body... is not death, but a transition from a sorrowful earthly journey to eternal joy and peace. The second death, that is, the final condemnation to eternal hellish torment and surrender to it, has no power over those resurrected by the first resurrection; Those resurrected by him will reign with Him for a thousand years (see Rev. 20:6). This reign of the priests of God in the Holy Spirit cannot be interrupted by the separation of the soul from the body, it develops and is strengthened by it. When the thousand years are over (see Rev. 20:7), the times will be fulfilled and all the verbal fruit of the earth will ripen - the second resurrection will follow, the resurrection of bodies. After it, the bliss of the righteous, who were resurrected in good time by the first resurrection, will increase; after him the death of rejected sinners who have lost the first resurrection will worsen.
