Мысли при чтении Псалтири

Machine translation from the original · Show original
Psalm 1. Describes success in everything and the bliss of pious people and the misfortune of the wicked. A godly man is like a fruitful tree by the flow of water, but the wicked are like dust blown from the earth by the wind. Psalm. 2. Prophecy about the Messiah. Ps. 4, [vv.7–8]. Show us [church-glory: sign upon us] the light of Your face, O Lord. You filled my heart with joy. The light of God's face is revealed to truly pious people during their pious activities by joy in their hearts. This joy is wonderful. There is no such joy in the world; it can be soothing, gratifying, and enthusiastic. Ps. 11, art.9. Thou hast multiplied the sons of men according to Thy height. Why are you surprised, Father of God, at the multitude of people? Marvel at the multitude of Angels: there are ninety-nine times more of them than how many people have survived and will survive from the beginning of the world to the end of it. And it is true that there are a lot of people on earth even at one known time: where are they not? Everywhere, all over the globe; there are up to a million or even more of them in one city. (Truly, according to the height of heaven from the earth, You, Lord, have multiplied people: as high as the sky, so many people. According to the height of heaven from the earth, You, Lord, have established Your mercy on those who fear You.) Ps. 12. How long, Lord... read more often. Psalm. 15, art. 11. You will show me the path of life: fullness of joy is before Your face, bliss is at Your right hand forever. I thank You, my Creator and Savior, that You showed me the path of life, namely, the path of love for You, contemplation of Your perfections, the path of my love for my neighbor. When I am with You, Lord, I serve You sincerely, then it is joyful for me, an insignificant creature, with my all-perfect Creator, then all my bones rejoice. Fullness of joys before Your face. And this is not surprising, because the sweetness in Your right hand (beauty) is forever - endless, unspeakable sweetness... Psalm. 16, art. 2. From Your face let my judgment come [church-glory: From Your face my fate will come]. Yes, Lord: You are my King by right of creation and redemption, and I am Your servant; Everything I have is Yours: soul, body, health, abilities, and everything that I have. My entire fate - both temporary and eternal - depends on You, like the fate of a full-time slave on his master. Grant me to always remember this and please You, my Lord, so that I can be comforted by the expectation of a good fate from You. 5 tbsp. Establish my steps in Your ways, so that my feet do not falter. If You Yourself do not help me to walk with a firm foot in Your ways - in the paths of truth, love and purity, I will always limp on both sides, I will be unsteady on the path of piety. Establish Thou my steps in Thy ways, that my feet may not falter. Ps. 17, art. 5. The sweat of lawlessness crushed me. Stop them, my Lord and my God! 24 Art. And I will be blameless with Him and will be kept from my iniquity. Be with me, and I will be blameless and preserved from iniquity. If you don't, I'll fall. Ps. 18, art. 13 [-15]. Who will see their mistakes? Cleanse me from my secrets, and from the intentional ones [church glory: from strangers] keep Thy servant, so that they do not prevail over me. Then I will be blameless and pure from great corruption. May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be acceptable in Your sight... We sin constantly, and often grievously. Because of the multitude of our sins, we do not even count them, we do not comprehend their gravity. We have a multitude of all kinds of sins: both obvious and secret, both strangers and our own. Secret sins and the sins of others are also dangerous sins: secret - because we do not notice them and do not correct ourselves for them; strangers - because they destroy not only us, but also our neighbors. Spare me, Lord, from the sins of others, do not exact them on me, and cleanse me from my secret sins. And they take You, my all-good and righteous Father, from me, remove You from You, stir up righteous anger against me, so that You do not listen with favor to my words, my prayer, and I do not have boldness in my heart before You. ...So that they do not prevail over me. Then I will be blameless and pure from great corruption. May the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be acceptable before You, O Lord, my rock and my Savior! Ps. 19, [Article 4]. (God) will remember all your sacrifices... Do not slacken in good deeds. God will remember your every sacrifice and reward you for everything. Ps. 21, 10 [-12] art. You brought me out of the womb, You placed hope in me at my mother’s breasts. I was left to You from the womb; From my mother’s womb You are my God. Do not move away from me, for sorrow is close, but there is no helper. I am all Yours: You took me from my mother’s womb. You are my Creator and my God. I know of no other refuge than You; I rely on You alone. Do not forsake me - the work of Your hands: for sorrow is near, but there is no helper. 15th century My heart became like wax, melting in the midst of my insides. This happens to me often. 16. My strength has dried up like a shard. Just as clay, when it is wet, is smooth, even and plump, and when it dries, it becomes rough and falls off, so the human body, when it is pleased with drinks and dishes, is smooth and plump, and when it is depressed by fasting, it becomes wrinkled, dry, weak: the strength of my body has dried up like a shard. 29 Art. The Lord's kingdom is, and He is Ruler over the nations. One God in the proper sense is the King: the kings of the earth are only a weak likeness of the King of Heaven. As the one King of the whole world, He alone possesses all nations, while the kings of the earth, since there are many of them, possess only certain nations: the Lord’s is the kingdom, and He is the Ruler over the nations. Ps. 22, [vv.1–3, 6]. The Lord is my Shepherd; I will lack for nothing: He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters, He strengthens my soul, He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake... May [Thy] goodness and mercy follow me all the days of my life, and I will abide in the house of the Lord many days. Yes, from the fullness of my heartfelt gratitude and joy I said to myself: The Lord is my Shepherd; I will not need anything: He makes me rest in green pastures... He strengthens my soul... How good it is for me to think that the Lord, almighty and all-good, Himself shepherds me in green pastures, that He guides me on the paths of righteousness, me, a great sinner, for the sake of His name. I feel as if the words of David’s psalm were composed for me: they were so close to my heart, so they suited my condition. Oh, my Most Kind, Sweetest Shepherd Jesus! Feed me Yourself in green pastures; send Your sweetness, Your peace into my heart, like juicy grass to a sheep, so that through deprivation of it I do not turn to the bitter potion of passions and vices and kill my soul with it. Give me joy in my heart and much peace, characteristic of those who love Thee [Ps. 118:165]. Let me be in Your church more often and bow at the foot of Your throne with prayer for the forgiveness of sins, for the granting of Your grace to me. Ps. 23, [Article 1]. The earth is the Lord's, and its fullness, the universe and all who live on it. As a single God-created house, the entire earth belongs to the Lord with everything that is in this house. What a wonderful house this is! Instead of various dead furniture, which is visible in human houses made by hand, everything in it is animated and moving: people, animals, fish in the waters, birds in the air, insects are constantly scurrying about; everything, as if merging into one cheerful choir, cheerfully celebrates the triumph of its existence and glorifies the goodness and wisdom of the Creator. Instead of lamps and candlesticks, of which there are many to illuminate a house made by hands, in this house not made by hands, which cannot be measured due to its enormity and vastness, only one lamp shines during the day, and it is so bright that every human lamp with its light completely disappears before it as nothing. True, at night many lamps shine in the sky: one large one is the moon, and the others are small, but they were not created directly to shine on the earth, but to show earth-born people that in the spaces of heaven there are many kind of light bodies, and very large ones, which, no less than the earth, [tell] rational creatures the glory of God. Then, as it were, there are various toys in this God-created house - trees, saplings, herbs, flowers, precious and simple stones. Instead of a carpet there are green meadows. Everything is so wondrous, beautiful and comfortable in the house of God! Ps. 24, [v.11]. For the sake of Your name, Lord, forgive my sin, for it is great. I am the greatest sinner and in myself am unworthy of pardon - only Your mercy can grant remission of my sins. Not for the sake of my dignity, not for the sake of my prayer and tears, forgive me my sins, but for the sake of Your name, Lord, forgive my sin, for it is great. 12. Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will show him the path to choose. His soul will remain in goodness, and his seed will inherit the earth. The Lord helps those who fear God to follow the good path that they have chosen: He enlightens their mind and conscience so that they understand and assimilate the laws of the Lord. The consequence of fearing God or fulfilling the commandments of God for our soul is inner peace and pure, holy joy, so that the soul of a God-fearing person is very good, good: his soul will settle in good things. Since a God-fearing man is a faithful servant of the Creator of the world and all people and promotes God’s intention to spread faithful, loving children of God, heirs of the Kingdom of Heaven, the Lord multiplies his descendants on earth, so that from the multitude it is sometimes impossible to count him: and his seed will inherit the earth. 18. Look at my suffering and my exhaustion and forgive all my sins. Forgive the sins of my insignificance, Infinitely Good One, for my insignificance! Ps. 26, [Article 6]. I would offer sacrifices of praise in His tabernacle, I would begin to sing and make melody before the Lord. I take advantage of David’s happiness, but because of my sins, which surround my soul like darkness, I do not feel the greatness of this happiness. God! Enlighten and save me. Verses 9 and 10. Hide not Thy face from me; do not reject Your servant in anger. You were my helper; do not reject me and do not forsake me, O God, my Savior! for my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will receive me. For my sins, I am worthy that Your goodness should turn away from me, but, implored by Your goodness, my Lord and Creator, look upon Your servant. If You turn Your face away from me, I will be the most miserable person. Ps. 29, [Article 8]. You hid Your face, and I was troubled. Yes, everyone who is abandoned by the Lord feels this confusion. It's very unpleasant. 10 tbsp. “What good is my blood when I go to the grave? [church-glor.: into decay], will the dust [church-glor.: dust] glorify You? will he proclaim Your truth?..” But if you do not proclaim the truth of God with your life, with your deeds, not only with your lips, how are you different from soulless dust? What is the use of your life? Better descend into decay. You are a useless burden. 11 and 12. “Hear, O Lord, and have mercy on me; God! be my helper." And You turned my lamentation [Church glory: my cry] into rejoicing, took off my sackcloth and girded me with joy. But I must still cry: hear, Lord, and have mercy on me. Turn my cry, my sorrow into my joy and gird me with joy. Ps. 30, [v.] 16. In Your hand are my days [church-glor.: In Your hand are my lots]. Not only mine, but the whole world. 23 art. In my confusion I thought: “I am rejected from Thy eyes”; but You heard the voice of my prayer when I cried to You. If you sin, do not despair, do not say: I am rejected forever from Your eyes, but pray to the Lord with all your soul for the forgiveness of your sins, declare to Him in tearful prayer about your iniquity with heartfelt contrition for it - and the merciful Lord will turn His bright face to you again, hear the voice of your prayer and have mercy on you. Ps. 31, [Article 5]. But I revealed my sin to You and did not hide my iniquity; I said: “I confess my crimes to the Lord,” and You took away from me the guilt of my sin [Church glory: You have forsaken the wickedness of my heart]. When you sin, man, do not ignore your sin, but immediately try to tear it out of your soul by the roots; Confess your iniquity to the Lord, and He will forsake the wickedness of your heart. Cry in prayer, grieve, and sin will leave your soul in tears. Ps. 32, [Article 5]. He loves truth and justice; The earth is full of the mercy of the Lord. The merciful Lord loves mercy in His rational creatures. By His goodness and mercy the heavens and the earth and everything in them exist, and the whole earth is full of the mercy of the Lord. How can we, intelligent creatures, not love mercy or alms. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful [Lk. 6:36]. 8 tbsp. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all who live in the universe tremble [church-glory: move] before Him, for He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it appeared. Heavenly Powers, spiritual Lights, high Minds stand before the Lord with trembling; let the earth tremble before Him, an insignificant speck of dust in God’s creation; let all who live throughout the world move from Him, like clay 7 and ashes. Insignificant, inexplicably insignificant before Him are both the earth and the creatures living on it: from His one word they received their being and remain in their being: for He said, and it was done; He commanded, and it appeared. 18 [-19]. Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon those who fear Him and trust in His mercy, that He will save their soul from death and feed them during famine. It is always good for those who fear the Lord: they know Him and He knows them: the Lord knows those who are His [2 Tim. 2:19 ]; The Lord knows how to deliver the godly from death [2 Pet. 2:9]. He will not leave them to perish. 21 Art. Our hearts rejoice in Him, for we have trusted in His holy name. The Lord is our only joy in His purity, sublimity, strength and calmness for the heart. Ps. 33, [Article 19]. The Lord is near to those who are broken in heart, and will save those who are humble in spirit. So, try to have a contrite and humble heart, and the merciful Lord will always be near you. Ps. 34, [v.] 13–14. But when they were always cold, 8 I clothed myself in sackcloth, and humbled my soul with fasting, and my prayer returned to my bosom 9. Learn from the Godfather to endure insults: humble yourself and pray when they offend you, consider the insults of others as righteous retribution for your sins. Ps. 36, [v.] 4. Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. 7. Submit to the Lord and trust in Him. 10–11. A little more, and the wicked will no longer be; you look at his place, and he is not there. But the meek will inherit the earth and enjoy much peace. 16. A little of the righteous is better than the wealth of many of the wicked. Do you know how to enjoy the Lord? Think about Him, about His boundless perfections - and you will receive for yourself the greatest pleasure, incomparable to anything. Enjoy Him, loving Him, and He will fulfill the desires of your heart; He will listen to you as a friend and will not refuse you anything. The wicked quickly pass away and are forgotten. The righteous, on the contrary, leave behind an eternal memory in their deeds and in their offspring. They enjoy the peace of God in their souls. A righteous man is satisfied with little, and more than a rich sinner with the abundance of his wealth. 21. The wicked borrows and does not repay, but the righteous is merciful and gives. 25–26. I was young and old, and I have not seen the righteous abandoned and his descendants asking for bread: he has mercy and lends every day, and his descendants will be a blessing. 28–29. The Lord does not forsake His saints; they will remain forever; [and the wicked will be cast out] and the descendants of the wicked will be destroyed. The righteous will inherit the earth and will live on it forever. Ps. 38, [v.] 6. Behold, Thou hast given me days as inches, and my life as nothing before Thee. What is my whole life? This is the most insignificant measure of time, or, to put it in spatial terms, every day of my life is a short span 10. And I think that I have a long time to live in the world, don’t I think about an endless, immovable, immeasurable eternity? Art.5. Tell me, Lord, my death and the number of my days... so that I may know what age I am. My days are like short spans, and my physical makeup is like nothing before You. What is greater than the smallest insect in Thy sight, O my God? Just as a thousand years before Your eyes are the same as one day, so the largest bodies in the material world are the same as the most insignificant before You. The smallest insect is the same to You as the sun. So, I am a real nonentity both in relation to the time of my existence and in relation to my material composition. Do not leave me, insignificant one, my God! 8. And my composition is from You. Everything I have is God’s: nothing is mine except sin, and the Lord created my body. Art.11. Turn away Thy blows from me; I am disappearing from Thy smiting hand [church-glor.: Leave Thy wounds from me: from the strength of Thy hand I have disappeared]. Yes, if the Lord visits our weakness in His truth, then we certainly disappear from the strength of His hand: we faint-heartedly, we tremble, we cry out. But a visit from God is inevitable in life: otherwise we would forget ourselves. 13 and 14. Hear, O Lord, my prayer and listen to my cry; do not be silent to my tears, for I am a stranger with You and a stranger, like all my fathers. Depart from me, that I may refresh myself before I go away and be no more. God! Grant me to pray to You with the same childlike simplicity and sincerity as Your faithful servant, King and Prophet David; let me think the same way as him. He said: I am a stranger with You and a stranger, like all my fathers; let me say the same with full conviction and act in accordance with my words. Do not allow me to suffer much in the land of my coming; when necessary, punish me fatherly, but also weaken me later, so that I can refresh myself before I go away and will no longer be on Your land. Ps. 39, [v.3–4]. He brought me out of the terrible pit, out of the miry swamp, and set my feet on a rock and established my steps; and he put a new song in my mouth - praise to our God. Oh, when will You, Lord, raise me up from the terrible pit of passions, correct my steps and put a song to You in my mouth, a song of praise and gratitude! My feet are shaky: strengthen them with Your omnipotent grace, direct them to the right path. 11. I did not hide Your righteousness in my heart, I proclaimed Your faithfulness and Your salvation, I did not hide Your mercy and Your truth before the great assembly. But the shepherds of the verbal flock of Christ hide the truth of God in their hearts, His mercy and truth, before the great congregation, if they do not preach the Word of God at all times. 12. Do not withhold, O Lord, Your compassions from me; May Thy mercy and Thy truth protect me unceasingly. Clay (Church Glav.) – dust of the earth, dirt, clay. Stuzhahu mi (Church Slavic) - oppressed, upset, offended me. Into my bosom (church glory) - back into my chest, into the depths of my nature. A span, a span, is a measure of length that is the distance between the extended index and thumb fingers. You might be interested in:
