Jer. 28:5. And Jeremiah's speech. When the false prophet Hananiah said that in two years the sacred vessels would return from Babylon, Jeremiah said that the end would show the truth of the words. Lest you think that I am hostile towards you, I wish and pray that I am and that I am found to have told a lie. Jer. 28:7. Either way you hear. Then, so as not to make them careless, see how he frightens them, saying almost that none of this will happen, and showing that all the prophets who predicted sad events were especially true. Jer. 28:10. And Ananias the false prophet took the treasures from the neck of Jeremiah before the eyes of all people and crushed them. Jeremiah, wearing, at the command of God, a yoke around his neck, prophesied about (other) nations and about Jerusalem. This was the fourth year of Zedekiah, as the prophet himself says. So, in the fifth month of this year, the false prophet Ananias came, announced the return of the captives and the death of Nebuchadnezzar and, as if acting on the command of God, broke the yoke. Then (follows) the revelation of Jeremiah about him, and the revelation of the truth of the words, since he says to him: look at our sins, (serving as) reproof 170. What about Jeremiah? Didn't do anything more, having brought sufficient denunciation. Jer. 28:16. This year you will die (when you offended him), as you spoke against the Lord. That is, contrary to the will of God, and adds: Jer. 28:17. And Ananias the false prophet died in the seventh summer of the month of Seventh, two months after the words of the prophet. When this happened, Jeremiah writes, by the command of God, to those who were in exile, so that they would not be deceived by those who predicted their return, but would know that those who remained in (their) land would move there. The meaning of these words is unclear in the Bible. there is no corresponding text for them.
