Chapter 60

Ps.60:1. Finally, in the songs of David, a psalm. David brings thanks to God for himself and for the people saved by faith, and makes a vow to continually send praise in the eternal abodes. Ps.60:2. God hear my prayer. Since, looking at the predominance and torment of demons, I am filled with despondency, I beg You to come and snatch us from the hands of the oppressors. With the words: “from the end of the earth” he expresses that he is praying for the whole universe. Ps.60:3. From the ends of the earth to You, I cried. For it is said: “Come, blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34), etc., therefore he gave us to inherit the kingdom of God and to be called Christians on earth. Ps.60:7. Add days to the days of the king. These words show that this too, i.e. eternal life is part of the heritage. For this means adding days to the years of the king’s days, and by days the prophet means years and centuries. Ps.60:8. He will remain forever before God: who will seek His mercy and truth? Here the order of speech has been changed, so its meaning will be as follows: if anyone seeks His mercy and His truth, then he will remain before God for endless centuries. Ps.60:9. Thus will I sing praises to Your name forever. What does "taco" mean? Is it not that I will sing while I am before You in the age to come? For then, having been granted this blessed presence, I will unceasingly offer up hymns. Thus, and not otherwise, by praising, a person will never cease to offer prayers to the Lord.
