Chapter 45

Machine translation from the original · Show original
Ps.45:1. Finally, about the sons of Kore, about the secret ones. Psalm. This psalm indicates the calling of the pagans, the expulsion of mental enemies and their imprisonment in the abyss. And since this is expressed as if in parables, the psalm is rightly inscribed: “about the secret ones.” Those who believed in Christ, and above all, His Apostles, sing it. Ps.45:2. God is our refuge and strength. This is due to the persecution brought against them by mental and sensory enemies. Since You are our helper, we despise every rebellion that arises against us. Ps.45:3. For this reason, let us not be afraid; the earth is always troubled. For the whole earth was in confusion at the beginning of the preaching, when those in unbelief rebelled against the preaching of the believers. And the mountains are given into the hearts of the sea. “Sea hearts” refers to abysses, and “mountains” refers to resisting forces, or demons, which in ancient times were exalted and glorious, and therefore are likened to mountains. So the demons, since they will be cast into the abyss, have raised up a battle against the believers, but we will not fear such enemies, say the believers. Ps.45:4. They made noise and troubled their waters. In these words, “waters” refers to the crowds of people who were outraged by the news of the sermon. The mountains trembled at His strength. The power of what was preached shook the unclean demons, extolled and glorified in ancient times, and therefore likened to mountains. Ps.45:5. River aspirations rejoice the city of God. The river is the name of the Gospel word that makes the Church glad. The Most High has sanctified His village. For the Holy One rests in the saints and dwells in them, that is, in the Church. Ps.45:6. God is in the midst of it, and does not move. That is, God is in the midst of the Church. God help him in the morning, i.e. from the very early morning. And here in the words “he will help him”, under the person of the Church, one can understand the holy Apostles and, by succession, the leaders of the Church, whom the Lord strengthens in strength so that they can advance the sermons. Ps.45:7. The pagans were in confusion, straying from the kingdom. Although the pagans took up arms against the Church, their kings nevertheless evaded, that is, they were defeated and fled, and subsequently they themselves bowed their necks to Christ. For the Psalmist says that the Church will soon be built up by those who destroyed it, because they exalted the Church by generously bringing it gifts. Give Your voice from the Most High, and the earth moves. Christ gave his voice on the cross. The Gospel word calls Him “Voice.” For the rational soul, as soon as it hears the voice of the Lord, begins to waver, moving from vice to virtue, from ignorance to the knowledge of God. Ps.45:8. The Lord of hosts is with us, our intercessor is God Jacob. The victory won over mental enemies will be attributed to the Lord himself. It is very opportune to mention Jacob here because of the struggle that took place with him. Ps.45:9. Come and see the works of God, even placing miracles on earth. Points to the peace established by the sermon, by which, says the Psalmist, all warfare has ceased on earth. “Miracles” refers to the destruction or inaction of warfare, because the Lord has destroyed all warfare. Ps.45:10. He will crush the bow, and break the weapons, and burn the shields with fire. Bow, weapon and shield here signify the worst state of man and evil thoughts. Ps.45:11. Be abolished and understand that I am God. For if someone does not renounce all worldly cares, then he will not be able to know God. To know God you need freedom from worries. I will ascend among the nations, I will ascend to the earth. He promises them the triumph of preaching over the pagans. Ps.45:12. The Lord of hosts is with us, our intercessor is God Jacob. Those who believe in Christ bring thanksgiving another time. You might be interested in:
