Chapter 27

David sings a real psalm on behalf of those who believed in Christ, calling on God for help with his petition. And also in the psalm there is a curse on the recklessness of the Jews, and a prayer for excommunication from their evil part. Ps.27:1. I will cry to You, Lord; lest you keep silence from Me, and become like those who go down into the pit. Divine Scripture usually calls hell a ditch. Ps.27:3. Don't attract me with sinners. He calls the Jewish people sinners, according to what the Savior said to the Jews: “If... you do not have faith as I am, you will die in your sins” (John 8:24). They are the ones who do injustice, because they killed the innocent and righteous, whom the Law forbade killing. Those who speak peace with their neighbors. He says this because, calling the Savior teacher and good, they plotted evil against Him. Ps.27:5. For I have no understanding of the things of the Lord. That is, they did not want to accept their own salvation. Ps.27:7. And prosper my flesh. This clearly preaches the Resurrection. Ps.27:8. And the protector of Christ's salvation. Here he calls people anointed for royal priesthood Christ. So, he says, the Lord himself will protect and save those anointed by Him and for Him. Ps.27:9. And may I forbid, and may I exalt you forever. For He Himself shepherds us, instead of Himself and as Himself, sending us the Comforter, and also exalts us, that is, He reveals us high into future and endless centuries. You might be interested in:
