Having long ago written the answers to the questions proposed to me by your piety, I did not send this writing, being held back, partly by a long and dangerous illness, and partly by the lack of employees. For we do not have many people who know the path and are ready for such obedience. Therefore, having learned the reasons for the slowdown, give us forgiveness for it. I was surprised at your love for learning, and also at your humility. For you want to learn when you have been entrusted with the rank of teacher, and, moreover, learn from us when we have nothing great in relation to knowledge. However, since you, for the fear of God, do not refuse to do a job that would not be easily done by another, then we must cooperate with your disposition and good diligence, even more than strength.
