Правило 10 Петра Александрийского
Machine translation from the original · Show original
Therefore, those of the clergy who voluntarily went out to the feat, fell and resumed the deed, have no right to be righteous later in the priestly service: for they left the flock of the Lord and disgraced themselves, which none of the apostles did. For the blessed Apostle Paul, who went through many persecutions and demonstrated many victories in his deeds, although he knew that it was better to be resolved and be with Christ, nevertheless adds and says: but if you remain in the flesh, it is most necessary to eat for your sake (Phil. 1:23, 24). For, looking not at his own benefit, but at the benefit of many, that they might be saved, he considered it more necessary than his own peace to remain with the brethren and take care of them. He commands the teacher to be in the teaching and to be in a faithful manner. Therefore, those who, having fallen and resumed their feat in prison, seek the right to perform sacred acts, are acting completely unreasonably. For how do they demand what they left behind, when the brethren could have been useful at such a time?
Until they were offended, they had forgiveness for their reckless act: but when they fell, then they could no longer perform sacred acts, as if they had committed atrocities and disgraced themselves. And so, putting aside vanity, in humility, let them care especially about how they end their course. For it is sufficient for them to communicate, carefully and accurately observed, for two reasons: both so that they do not appear saddened and with effort seek permission from here, and so that some fallen ones do not take an excuse, so that, on the occasion of threatening penance, they would become weak in spirit. Such, more than anyone else, will have shame and reproach, following the example of him who laid the foundation, and was unable to complete it: for, as it is said, everyone who passes by will begin to curse him, and say: this man began to build, and cannot complete it (Luke 14:29, 30).
