Those who dare to commit an attack on other people's houses, even if they are convicted on charges, may not be considered lower than the rank of listeners of the scriptures. But if they announce themselves and return what was stolen, then let them fall down in the rank of those who convert. (Basily Vel. 61; Gregory Neokes. 2; Gregory Nyssk. 6). Both in the 7th and in the present and subsequent rules, the Holy Father determines the punishments for the corresponding crimes. Here we are talking about those who attack other people's houses for the purpose of stealing, and the rule prescribes that the guilty, if they did not confess their sins on their own, but were convicted of them in court, should be placed, for punishment, in the category of mourners, i.e. were relegated to the lowest level of repentance; if, on their own volition, they confessed to the crime and returned the stolen property to the owner, in this case they should be placed in the third category of repentant, repentant, i.e. could be in the church together with the believers, however, on their knees and only until the prayer for the catechumens, after which they had to leave the church.
