When the Prophet said all this and the like, he accepted the command to take (Jer. 19:1) the “poor vessel”, go to (Jer. 19:2) “the place of many graves” together with the priests and the elders of the people, again threaten the city with destruction, and remind about serving idols (at the same time he predicted the disasters that the siege would produce, and the scarcity of everything necessary), and after break the vessel of all this, and say: Jeremiah 19:11. Thus I will crush this people and this city, just as a poor vessel is crushed, so that no one can be healed. He threatens both the royal dwelling with ruin and the entire city with desolation; because not only publicly, but also in their own homes, they poured out libations and made sacrifices to idols. The very place where the idols stood will become the tomb of the slain. “And in Topheoth they will be buried for this reason: for there will be no other place for burial.” And he let me see the large number of those killed. Upon his return, the Master again commanded the Prophet to announce the prophecy to everyone in the consecrated courtyard, and to prophesy, both to Jerusalem and to all subject cities and villages, about future desolation.
