Your Reverence, most honorable Mother Abbess Lyudmila in the Lord! I received two letters from you, as well as money of twelve rubles by mail for the books sent to you and thank you for the careful delivery. Thank you for your kind greeting to me, a sinner, on the soul-saving week of the Passion of Christ and on the upcoming feast of St. Easter. Your teacher Evdokia did not dare to eat fish during Lent. “That’s good, it’s easier on the conscience.” What you eat extra during Lent is nothing. After all, you are not doing this out of whim, but out of need. However, still reproach yourself, repent and humble yourself. And there is nothing reproachful here that, out of weakness, you read the prayer while lying down at night and perform the rosary. Self-reproach, repentance and humility are not superfluous here either. Sometimes read extra chapters from St. Gospels and akathists you can. Just watch that all this is done by you without any particular burden, for the abbess is required to take care of the affairs entrusted to her by the Lord St. obedience, I mean monastic affairs. That Anna Smirnovskaya became humble is God’s mercy and grace. Glory to the Lord! Your local council does not give approval to your teacher. - What to do? We must endure with prayer in the hope of God’s help, perhaps this Council will change. For the counsel of the Lord alone endures forever. Asking for you and all the sisters of your monastery for peace and God's blessing, I remain with sincere goodwill. You might be interested in:
