67. С пользою общественной неразрывно связана польза духовная. О важности доброго воспитания детей

Your Reverence, most honorable Mother Abbess Lyudmila in the Lord! I received your letter dated October 4, in which you write, among other things, that you are tired of bothering and thinking about social, secular benefits. - But why be bored with it? For our spiritual benefit is inextricably linked with social, secular, as you put it, schools and almshouses. Taking care of the good upbringing of children and the care of the old and infirm - all these are works of mercy commanded to us Christians by the Lord. For this He promises a reward to those who do His commandments, saying: Blessed are the mercy, for these will be shown mercy. Therefore, I wish you not to get bored with these works of mercy, but to pray to the Lord for guidance on where, how and what to say or how to act, and for help in carrying out a good deed. And then act according to your strength and ability. Our time is in great need of good parenting. And nothing happens without the will of God. The Lord, of course, through people, instructs you to take care of the education of the young and the care of the old and weak - and take care. And His reward is ready. If you leave these things to you, then it will turn out like this: leave these things out, and in solitude in your spiritual life you will not gain anything. Asking for you and for your entire monastery and for your deeds peace and God's blessing, I remain with sincere goodwill. You might be interested in:
