Once, after a great and terrible journey through the desert, the people of Israel receive a land of rest and - most amazing of all to hear this! - God and the Lord of all, having become man for our sake, through suffering, the cross and death comes to His glory, for no other path was determined for Him, as it is written: “Was it not necessary for Christ to suffer in this way and enter into His glory?” (Luke 24:26) - let us not lose heart and succumb to weariness in sorrows, but “let us look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our salvation” (Heb. 24:26) and begin to courageously endure what is happening. For the end of all sorrow is joy, and of all suffering is rest, and of all shame is glory; and in general, the end of all sorrows endured for the sake of virtue is becoming like God in everything and enjoying eternal, boundless peace.
