The prophet Micah came from the tribe of Judah, was a contemporary of the prophets Isaiah, Hosea and Amos, and prophesied in Jerusalem in the days of kings Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah (720 years before R. X.). He denounced sinners and consoled those faithful to the law of God, and predicted the birth of Christ the Savior in Bethlehem. Holy Martyr Marcellus, Bishop of Apamea The son of rich and noble parents, on the island of Cyprus, received a good education, in civil positions he surprised everyone with the purity of life, meekness, mercy and eloquence from the marriage union, but leaving everything, around 375 he retired to Syria and led a desert monastic life near Apamea (now the village of Famiat). The inhabitants of Apamea, having called him to the city as if for some other useful work, elected him to the bishop. He took care of spreading the faith in his city, where there were still many pagans, and with the permission of Emperor Theodosius, he destroyed the temple of Zeus in Apamea. But when in the neighboring town of Avlona the soldiers were engaged in the destruction of a pagan temple, at the same time repelling the pagans who were interfering with this, and Marcellus stood a little far from that place, the pagans seized him, threw him into the fire and killed him (385 years). His sons wanted to take revenge on the murderers who were open, but the local council of bishops prevented this, recognizing it as unjust to take revenge for such a death, for which they should thank God (Arch.
