Commentary on 1 Timothy

“Commentary on the 1st Epistle to Timothy” (6 chapters) is one of the voluminous Commentaries on the 14 Epistles of the Apostle Paul, written by Blessed. Theodoret of Cyrus later than all his other comments. In the preface, Bl. Theodoret reveals the purpose of the apostolic letter: to teach the order of church service, to explain what shepherds should be, and also to protect the community from spreading false teachings. The interpretation discusses in detail issues related to the appointment of elders and deacons. Church ministers must be role models, and their lives must be in accordance with the teachings of Christ. The topic is also raised about the role of women in the Church and their participation in ministry. Blessed Timothy was from Lykaon. Leaving the fatherland, home and parents, he followed the Apostle, preferring to be with him over everything else. The wise Paul entrusted him with the care of Asia; Therefore, he writes to him, firstly, advising him to stop the mouths of those who try to teach otherwise, then teaching the rank of church service and after this showing the distinctive features in life befitting the priestly rank and other ranks. At the same time, he spoke in advance about the destructive seeds of evil heretics and gave Timothy advice to act as befits a person entrusted with the care of souls. You might be interested in:
