1 Timothy 5:3. Honor widows, who truly are widows, that is, give them food. 1 Timothy 5:4. If any widow has children and... grandchildren, then... let her study It is from you that you first show your gifts in your home, and then on others. For if her love for her first husband was so constant that after his death she did not marry another, then how much more constant and firm will she be in her love for God? 1 Timothy 5:10. Avoid young widows for there is little hope for them. They are revered for the sake of the degree (deaconesses) and indulge in luxury. The flesh takes over, and they want to get married, preferring condemnation, 1 Timothy 5:12. because... the old faith... was rejected, that is, your former vow (of widowhood). 1 Timothy 5:13. And together the idle ones learn to go around houses... also saying things they shouldn’t. 1 Timothy 5:14. Therefore, it is better that I [widows] marry young, so that they do not give Satan any reason for blasphemy. 1 Timothy 5:15. For many [widows] have already gone astray after Satan. 1 Timothy 5:17. Good at managing presbyters are given double honor and may they be rewarded compared with those of their comrades who are inferior to them in their deeds, - especially... those who labor in the word and teaching. do not muzzle an ox while threshing (Deut. 25:4), - and in the New (Testament) it is said: the worker [is] worthy of his wages (Luke 10:7, Matthew 10:10). 1 Timothy 5:19. Against the presbyter... accusation do not... accept, but not otherwise... than in the presence of two or three witnesses. 1 Timothy 5:21. do nothing out of passion, so that they obey you - and when satisfying petitions, do not give (pre)reference to the petition of noble persons. 1 Timothy 5:22. Hand... hastily, Don’t lay it on anyone... and don’t share in sin. those you supply. 1 Timothy 5:24. Some people... sins... are obvious going before them to the judgment seat judges - and those who hasten by the laying on of hands, their sins not only go before them and with them, but behind them, that is, after themselves, they leave behind the iniquities of those whom they placed in (church) positions. 1 Timothy 5:23. From now on, drink more than just water... I won’t even tell you to drink wine, - but drink a little [wine], for the sake of your stomach and your frequent infirmities, - he became weak from many fasts, - and also for the sake of numerous infirmities, who constantly visit you because of your stomach illness.
