1 Thessalonians 2:1–2. For you yourselves know, brethren, that our entrance to you was not empty, but with reproach and persecution (Acts 16:12), - for before we had suffered and been mocked in Philippi, as you also know? and with our own eyes we saw traces of suffering, which together with us entered your city. When we have confidence in our God, in the word that is our God, to speak to you in a great feat, enduring, that is, great persecution, they announced to you by which we exhorted you to turn to the Gospel, filled with consolation, as the forces we have accomplished prove this, as the purity of our soul testifies to this, how our purity and innocence will confirm this. is that we do not have any of the things listed here, – to entrust us with the Gospel, – and so... we say to please people, but to please God, who tests 1 Sol.2:5. You know, brothers, that we never had... words of endearment, for we did not approach any of you in the form of covetousness. 1 Thessalonians 2:6. We are not looking for fame when we perform signs or are persecuted, as you yourselves will testify to this, and about what happened for others and to which, although you were not witnesses, God testifies. After all, you remember, brother, that we worked with our own hands that is: if there was a place for our preaching, we worked day and night, but if the door of the Gospel was opened to us at night, then we worked during the day. And we chose this for ourselves, so that... which of you... is not burdened 1 Thessalonians 2:10. You, of course, are witnesses naturally about our external behavior - about our inner mood, precisely about how we preached the word of God among you holy and righteous: holy, because not because of your estates, because you cannot accuse us of anything alien to the Gospel. And that in everything we were blameless among you, then you yourself 1 Thessalonians 2:11–12. you know how each of you, like the father of his son, praying We taught you and consoled you during your persecution, I testify that you act worthy of God from the time of election, since by your worthy behavior you can again be worthy of the glory that you lost - and the paradise from which you were expelled. 1 Sol.2:13. Do not be sad because you suffer persecution even from your brothers, since you have accomplices in this. Do not lose heart, for even if your houses were plundered, in this too you have participants and partners. 1 Thessalonians 2:14. After all, you... have become imitators, brother... of the churches of God that exist in Judea; because... you suffered the same thing... from your fellow tribesmen, just as they did from the Jews; so that we could say: out of jealousy we kill Him, but and... the Prophets... were killed,... and us and they were deprived of His special care.
