Isa.2:2. It will be... the mountain of the house of the Lord will be placed on the side of the mountains. On the mountain, Isaac is saved from slaughter; David bought this place from Orna the Jebusite (2 Samuel 24:24). And this mountain is Golgotha, where, instead of transformational altars, the true altar was erected - the Cross, and the true Sacrifice was offered on it. And rise above the hills. Thus the Cross rose above all pagan shrines (temples). Isa.2:3. And many nations will go forth, - they will seek the Lord, they will worship Him, as Jacob said: “This is the desire of the nations” (Gen. 49:10). Isa.2:4. and they will beat their swords into plowshares Since great peace will be established among them, instead of weapons of war they will make themselves tools for cultivating the land. Isa.2:5. Come, let us walk by the light of the Lord, that is, in the law of the Lord. Isa.2:6. Forsake your people, the house of Jacob; for as from the beginning the people are filled with wickedness. The Prophet speaks either about the time when the Jews were in Egypt, or about when the Assyrians came and captured the Israelites. “And they do magic like... the Philistines”; those who are commanded to do sorcery are those who are commanded: “Let no one be found in you... sorcerer by sorcery” (Deut. 18:10). Isa.2:10. Enter the stone and hide in the ground. For them, death is better than the captivity that awaits them. Isa.2:11. And the Lord alone will ascend... because all idols cannot deliver them from the hands of retributive justice. Isa.2:13. The acorn of Bashansk will ascend to every tree. Since they hoped for the strength of idols and were proud of them, the prophet represents their false gods in the image of cedars, spirits, high towers and everything majestic. Isa.2:18. And everything made with hands will be hidden. The Jews will despise the idols and bats they worshiped because they did not help them during their humiliation. Isa.2:22.
