The services for which the Book of Hours contains unchangeable prayers are the following: Vespers and Matins (for the reader and singer), the Midnight Office, the Hours with inter-hours, the Rite of Depiction and Compline. The Book of Hours got its name from the presentation of the prayers of the hours. According to the difference between holidays, fasting days, etc. Both these and other public worship services are of unequal duration and unequal composition; for example, there is a midnight office every day, Saturday and Sunday; Compline is great and small; prayers, unchanged for all these services, are in the Book of Hours. Like the Service Book, there is an additional part in the Book of Hours, which contains rites and prayers added to the services of the daily circle; they are: a) the succession of the elevation of the panagia, b) the blessing of the meal, c) the canon of the Theotokos, composed by Theosterictus, d) troparia, kontakia, Theotokos, prokeimnas, sacraments, belonging to the divine service of the seventh cycle - for Sundays and weekdays, and to the divine service of the annual cycle - for moving and motionless days; also following the departure of the soul from the body (requiem service), prayers for those coming to bed, morning prayers, rules for those preparing for communion. As for the priest and deacon in the Service Book, so for the singer in the Book of Hours a monthly book is appended.
