Hos.14:3. Take prayer words with you and turn to the Lord; Say to Him: “Take away all iniquity and accept it for good, and we will offer the sacrifice of our lips. Hos.14:4. Israel’s appeal to God should, according to the prophet, also consist in the fact that the people should not rely on the Assyrians or on military force (horses), trust only in Jehovah and not serve idols. “You have mercy for the orphans” - this is an incentive to repentance and hope for forgiveness. The deviation of the LXX text from the original is not confirmed by other translations. Words of glory. t. (v. 3): “You are able to turn away all sin” are read only in a few Greek codes and can be considered a later insertion. Hos.14:5. I will heal their backsliding, I will love them with good pleasure; for My anger has turned away from them. “I will heal their apostasy (meschubotam - apostasy), I will love them with good will.” LXX read moschubotam and therefore translated - “I will heal their villages,” meaning the restoration of the villages of Israel after the captivity. Instead of the words “by good will” (nedavam - voluntarily) in glory. “manifestly” (δμολίγως), i.e., so that everyone can see and know, I will especially love. Hos.14:6. I will be dew to Israel; it will blossom like a lily and take root like Lebanon. Hos.14:7. Its branches will spread out, and its beauty will be like olive trees, and its fragrance will be like Lebanon. A figurative description of God's mercy to Israel and the prosperity of the people. “It will take down its roots like Lebanon,” that is, like the mountains of Lebanon. Who is wise to understand this? who is intelligent to know this? For the ways of the Lord are right, and the righteous walk in them, and the wicked will fall in them.
