And Bezaleel and Aholiab and all the wise in heart, to whom the Lord had given wisdom and understanding, began to work, so that they could do all the work needed for the sanctuary, as the Lord commanded. Exodus 36:2. And Moses called upon Bezaleel and Aholiab and all the wise in heart to whom the Lord had given wisdom, and all whose heart was drawn to begin work and work. Then came all the wise in heart, who carried out all the work of the sanctuary, each according to his own work, whichever one did, Ex.36:5. and they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bringeth much, more than is necessary for the work which the Lord hath commanded to be done. The zeal and zeal of the people is explained by a penchant for the ritual side of religion and, perhaps, a desire to atone for the sin of calf service at Sinai. Ex.36:6. And Moses commanded, and it was declared in the camp, that neither man nor woman should do any more for the offering in the sanctuary; and the people stopped bringing. Exodus 36:7. There was enough stock for all sorts of work that needed to be done, and there was even some left over. Exodus 36:8. And all the wise in heart that occupied the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine woven linen, and of blue, purple, and scarlet wool; and they made cherubim on them with cunning work; Exodus 36:9. the length of each curtain was twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of each curtain was four cubits: all the curtains were one measure. Ex.36:10. And he connected the five curtains one to the other, and the other five curtains he connected one to the other. Exodus 36:11. And he made loops of blue color on the edge of one coverlet, where it joins the other; He did the same on the edge of the last blanket, to connect it to the other; Exodus 36:12. he made fifty loops at one curtain, and fifty loops he made at the end of the curtain, where it joins the other; these loops corresponded to one another; Ex.36:13. And he made fifty gold hooks, and with the hooks he joined one curtain to another, and the tabernacle became one whole. Ex.36:14. Then he made curtains of goats' hair to cover the tabernacle: he made eleven curtains of these; Exodus 36:15. the length of the curtain was thirty cubits, and the width of the curtain four cubits: for eleven curtains the measure was one. Ex.36:16. And he connected five curtains separately and six curtains separately. Exodus 36:17. And he made fifty loops on the edge of the outermost curtain, where it joins the other, and made fifty loops on the edge of the curtain that joins the other; Exodus 36:18. and he made fifty copper hooks to connect the cover so that it would form one whole. Ex.36:19. And he made for the tabernacle a covering of red rams' skins, and a covering on top of blue skins. See interpretation of Art. 1-14. Ch. 36. And he made the beams for the tabernacle of shittim wood, standing upright: Exodus 36:21. ten cubits is the length of the beam, and one and a half cubits the width of each beam; Ex.36:22. Each beam had two tenons, one opposite the other: so he made all the beams of the tabernacle. Exodus 36:23. And he made for the tabernacle twenty such beams for the noon side, Ex.36:24. and he made forty sockets of silver for twenty beams: two sockets under one beam for his two tenons, and two sockets under another beam for his two tenons; Exodus 36:25. and for the other side of the tabernacle, towards the north, he made twenty beams Ex.36:26. and forty sockets of silver: two sockets under one beam, and two sockets under another beam; Ex.36:27. and for the back side of the tabernacle, towards the west, he made six beams, Ex.36:28. and he made two beams for the corner of the tabernacle on the back side; Ex.36:29. and they were joined at the bottom and joined at the top to one ring: so he did to them both at both corners; Exodus 36:30. and there were eight beams and sixteen sockets of silver, two sockets for each beam. And he made poles of shittim wood, five for the beams of one side of the tabernacle, Ex.36:32. and five poles for the boards of the other side of the tabernacle, and five poles for the boards of the back side of the tabernacle; Ex.36:33. and made an inner pole that would run along the middle of the beams from one end to the other; Ex.36:34. he overlaid the beams with gold, and made the rings into which the poles were placed of gold, and overlaid the poles with gold.
