410. Речь Государю Наследнику Цесаревичу и Великому Князю Александру Николаевичу, пред вступлением Его Высочества в Успенский собор

(Said on November 10; published in Mosk. Vedomosti 1850). From the lips of the King Prophet we hear the prayer: “O God, grant Thy judgment to the King and Thy righteousness to the Son of the King: let the mountains bring peace to men, and the hills give righteousness” (Ps. 72:1, 3). And it seems to us that this is a prayer for the Russian Tsar and His Firstborn, and that the fulfillment of this prayer is before us. Your Most August Parent used Your eye to embrace with your Royal gaze the distant borders of the vast kingdom: and You passed through the region of the Caucasus and reached Ararat, “may the mountains bring peace to people; and mound the truth” - so that Your review will bring joy to the regions and contribute to their good. We greet You with the accomplishment of this feat and pray to God that both this and all Your exploits will be pleasing to the King-Father and beneficial to the countries and people of the kingdom.
