32. Речь Благочестивейшему Государю Императору Александру Павловичу, пред вступлением Его Величества в Успенский Собор

(Spoken on August 25; printed separately and in collections of 1835, 1844 and 1848) We honor You before God, most pious sovereign! and we thank Him that He comforts us through You; and we pray to Him that He will comfort You also with us. Look again at this king-loving people, and be comforted by their love, which did not allow Your coming to be hidden in deep night, but received You with a voice of delight. Look again at this centuries-old royal city, which it has been given to You, in a short time, to revive from ruins and ashes; and take comfort in this, as a sign that God, who visited our iniquities, still preserved here the blessing of the righteous: for “in the blessing of the righteous the city will rise,” says the Word of righteousness (Proverbs 11:11). May the God of blessings assist You in Your most important royal construction - in the construction and elevation of the moral and spiritual order, in the establishment of faith and truth, by which both kings are great and kingdoms are unshakable. God! save the king, and bless, and preserve His entry and departure, for the salvation of the kingdom. You might be interested in:
