How comforting it is for us to have a certificate of authentication in the special protection of the Mother of God to our Blessed Sovereign Tsarevich, Heir to the All-Russian Throne! For it was not for nothing that his birth was arranged on Her birthday. The eye of faith cannot help but see in this act of providence that the Mother of God, from the first minute of the life of the Sovereign Heir, took him into Her arms. And, of course, from that moment She herself oversees all its inputs and outcomes. How much this mercy of God promises! Let us rejoice in hope, but let us not give ourselves over to carelessness. The future is foreshadowed in heaven, and its fulfillment is prepared on earth - in us and through us. In this sense, joyful hope is not a reason for peace, but an incentive to intensified and reasonable activity. Seated firmly on the Throne, the most pious Sovereign introduces reforms and new orders in all parts. The fruits from them, most likely, will be reaped in full by the coming reign. And this is the inheritance to the Heir from the reigning parent. But what should the people prepare for him and how should the people greet him? – Needless to say, the people must enter into the spirit and form of the new order, for this will happen even without their desires. No, that's not it. The people must preserve themselves as the same Russian people and in this form meet the future Tsar. The inheritance of the Heir from the people is the immutability of the fundamental elements of his life. According to the immutable fate of our lives, reigns alternate, but the state is still the same. According to the immutable law of time, the orders and types of people's activities change; but the active people must remain one and the same people, just as our body grows and acts in various ways, but it is all the same from birth to death. Woe to the kingdom when changeability enters the spirit of the people. It will then be like “the turbulence of the sea, tossed and tossed by the winds” (James 1:6). The fundamental elements of Russian life have long been characterized in our country, and are so powerfully and fully expressed in the familiar words: “Orthodoxy, autocracy and nationality.” This is what needs to be preserved! When these principles weaken or change, the Russian people will cease to be Russian. He will then lose his sacred tricolor banner! What does each of these three mean, who doesn’t know! Orthodoxy is expressed by the unity of God-given truth; autocracy - by the unity of God-given power, nationality - by the unity of aspirations indicated by the king and sanctified by God. - Orthodoxy accepts the truth from God through the Church and humbly submits to it; autocracy receives the Tsar from God through the succession of clans and obeys him whole-heartedly; the people will accept the consciousness of God's chosenness for the special purposes of Providence, measuring them by the known will of God, and especially presenting themselves as its executive instrument. A people devoted to God and the King and unanimously striving to fulfill the goals they indicate - what an indestructible force! what a deposit of prosperity and success in everything! There is something to take care of! - Take care, Russian people, of these treasures. Don't waste or spoil them! Orthodoxy is spoiled when they do not want to accept the truth of God, and try to invent their own in its place; autocracy deteriorates when they plan their own - new - to invent power and not accept the God-given one; A nation deteriorates when a people not of God—the heavenly ones—but their own earthly ones begins to exclusively pursue goals, while submitting to alien influence. The fruit of this will be - diversity of opinion: everyone judges everything in his own way; - autocracy: everyone is his own king; and, naturally, after everyone has their own mind - the king in the head - there is a separation and striving of forces: everyone is about himself, and no one is about others. – When all this comes into life and begins to be a predominant phenomenon, then the decomposition, disorder and humiliation of the state body will begin. What, therefore, is the danger for our future? – In strengthening claims to self-comprehension of truth, to decisive independence of thought, to scientificity that does not want to submit to the truth of God; - in strengthening the demands of self-government and decisive independence of action, burdened by the instructions of the authorities and not tolerated reporting to it; - in the strengthening of alien folk influences, and under them - aspirations exclusively for the earthly, the present, with oblivion of heaven and eternity. Judge for yourself by these features: is there anything we should fear for our future?! Do we preserve intact the fundamental elements of our Russian spirit, and with carelessness and indifference allow ourselves to deteriorate in all aspects of our national character? I will not bother you with accusatory instructions. Tangibly obvious what to indicate?! I suppose, however, many people have a terrible question: what to do?! This is the closest thing! – Do not become corrupted yourself and do not allow corruption to expand around you – neither unbelief, nor autocracy, nor sensuality due to alien national influences. If everyone made this a law for themselves, there would be no one to spoil, and what spoils itself would disappear from among us, not finding food, support and support for itself. Reasonable people act no differently. Let us pray for the increase of intelligence, according to the word of the Apostle, who says: “If anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives impartially to everyone, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). Let true zealots for the good of the fatherland console themselves with a prayer for admonition and help from above when they see little or no success in their efforts. For, having thought about everything, we cannot restfully dwell on anything human—and an exclamation involuntarily breaks out from our hearts: If not the Lord! – and our measures are weak. He, the merciful One, who has so many times saved Russia from final ruin, and through fate, will ensure that the essential elements of our spirit are preserved in us, despite the strong pressure of phenomena and actions corrupting it on all sides.
