The Apostle Paul says that the Israelites, having crossed the sea, were baptized in it (1 Cor. 10:2). Such baptism served for them as a separation between Egypt and them. Peter the Apostle adds: “So now baptism similar to this image... saves us...” (1 Pet. 3:21) And our baptism saves us and serves as a dividing wall between the dark satanic region of sin and the world and the brightness of life in Christ. The baptized person cuts himself off from all earthly hopes and supports and lives in this age, as if in the desert, not connected to anything. His heart is not on earth, it is all in this century. Everything here concerns him in passing, so that “he who has wives is like one who does not have, one who buys is like one who does not have anything,” in general, “one who demands peace is like one who does not demand” (1 Cor. 7:29-31).
