“The wicked shall fall by his wickedness” (Prov. 11:5). Impiety is an incorrect attitude towards God or complete forgetfulness of God, which includes disbelief in the existence of God and His providence for creatures. Other souls, being pressed by the pressure of such wicked thoughts, but wanting, however, to show themselves to be serviceable individuals, decide this: I will be truthful, honest and humane, without preoccupying myself with whether there is someone above me, admonishing, obliging and having to demand an account. So what? There is no blessing from God upon them, which they do not seek, and their work is not accomplished. Their conscience reminds them every day of deeds of either untruth, dishonesty, or inhumanity. Only before people do they manage to show themselves righteous in their justification, where it is necessary to bite off and misinterpret the facts. Whoever is conscientious on the inside has nothing to justify himself with. Those who are inattentive to themselves also let this internal discord pass by; those who are attentive manage it somehow. Oh, when would any of them conscientiously look at this discord and figure out where it comes from and how to resolve it! He would then settle things for himself, and he would take care to guide others in a good way. You might be interested in:
