“The fear of the Lord hates iniquity” (Prov. 8:13); and if he hates them, he will drive them away; if he drives them away, the soul will become clean of them and will therefore appear right before the Lord. And this is all that we are now looking for with such care. Therefore, restore the fear of God in yourself and maintain it, and you will have the most powerful means of self-healing. The fear of the Lord will not allow you to sin, and it will force you to do every good thing on every occasion. And the commandment will be fulfilled for you: “turn away from evil and do good” (Ps. 33:15), which the prophet gives to those seeking true life. How to reach the fear of God? Seek and you will find. Here you cannot say: do this and do that; the fear of God is a spiritual feeling that begins secretly in the heart from its turning to God. Thinking helps, and tensing yourself to this feeling also helps; but by deed it is given from the Lord. Seek it as a gift, and it will be given to you. And when it is given, then just obey him unquestioningly: he will correct all your wrongs. You might be interested in:
