(James 2:14–26, Mark 10:46–52) “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can this faith save him? (James 2:14) The path to faith is repentance. What do they say in repentance? - I sinned, I won’t. I will not sin, therefore, I will live according to the commandments. Since repentance does not go away with the acceptance of faith, but, combined with it, remains to the end, then the decision to live according to the commandments remains in force even with faith. Therefore, a believer, if he came to faith in a direct way, i.e. through repentance, he is a zealot for fulfilling the commandments or a doer of good deeds. Faith gives him the strongest motivation to do so; Faith gives him grace-filled strength through St. Sacraments. Thus faith promotes works. But works make faith perfect: for until that which one believes is done by works, faith is as if it were not faith. She becomes visible only in business. And not only visible, but also strong.
