(Heb. 8:7–13; Mark 8:11–21) The Lord sailed with his disciples to the other side of the sea, and they forgot to take the loaves, and had only one loaf with them, and began to think about what they should do here. Knowing their thoughts, the Lord reminded them of the feeding of four and five thousand people, thereby leading them to the firm hope that under Him they would not die of hunger, even if they did not have a single piece of bread. How much anxiety the thought of an unknown future sometimes brings to everyone! There is only one calm from these anxieties - trust in the Lord, and revival and strengthening are drawn from a reasonable consideration of what has already happened to us and to others. There is not a single person who in his life has not experienced unexpected deliverance from trouble or unexpected turns in his life for the better. Revive your soul with memories of such cases when gloomy thoughts about what to do begin to torment it. God will arrange everything for the better now, as it happened before. Rely on Him; even before deliverance from trouble, He will send you complacency, in which you will not even notice your trouble. “Whoever trusts in the Lord will receive mercy *35” (Ps. 31:10). Consider the experiences of this in the Holy Scriptures, in the lives of the saints, in your life and the lives of your friends and you will see, as in a mirror, how “the Lord is near to all who call on Him” (Ps. 144:18).
