(1 Tim. 5, 11–21; Luke 17, 26–37) “Whoever saves his life will lose it; and whoever destroys her will bring her to life” (Luke 17:33). You need to understand this: saving your soul means feeling sorry for yourself; and to destroy the soul is not to feel sorry for yourself; one only needs to mean: on the path of the Lord’s commandments or in working for the Lord. And it will turn out like this: whoever works for the Lord in fulfilling His commandments, without sparing himself, is saved; and whoever feels sorry for himself perishes. If you begin to feel sorry for yourself, you will certainly find yourself a violator of the commandments, and, therefore, an unbreakable slave *26; And what is the sentence for the unswitchable slave? “Plunge you into utter darkness: it will weep and gnashing its teeth” *27 (Matthew 25:30). Take the trouble to observe yourself, even for just one day, and you will see that self-pity distorts all our deeds and discourages us from doing them. You can’t do anything without labor and tension; but it’s a pity to force yourself - that’s the stop. There are things that you want to do or not, you have to do. Such things are not worth doing, although it is difficult. But here self-pity is overcome by self-pity. If you don’t do it, there will be nothing to eat. And since the works of the commandments are not of this kind, then with self-pity they are always omitted. And indulgence in bad deeds is also made out of self-pity. It’s a pity to deny yourself what you wanted - your wish comes true; and it is either directly sinful or leads to sin. So, he who always feels sorry for himself - does not do what he should, and indulges himself in what he should not, and ends up nowhere worthless. What kind of salvation is there? Inaccessible (ecclesiastical) – unfit. “Throw the wicked slave into outer darkness: there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” You might be interested in:
