(1 Tim. 3, 1–13; Luke 16, 1–9) The parable of the unrighteous overseer exposed. Look how he managed to get out of trouble! If only we could all manage to arrange a peaceful life for ourselves after leaving this life! But no, “the sons of this age are more perceptive in their generation than the sons of light” (Luke 16:8). Why did the bailiff get into such a fuss? Because trouble was close. The proximity of trouble aroused energy and intelligence, and he soon settled everything. It’s as if we’re not in trouble? Death can strike every minute, and immediately after it “give an account of your stewardship” (Luke 16:2). Everyone knows this, and yet almost no one moves. What kind of delusion is this? The fact that no one thinks of dying now, but believes that he will live a day or two; although he does not specify a time limit, he is still sure that death is still ahead. That is why trouble still seems to lie ahead. Trouble is ahead - and considerations in case of trouble are postponed to the future. No one thinks about remaining in trouble for the rest of their life, but only puts it off until today. And since all life is made up of the present days and hours, then there is no concern about how to arrange for the future. You might be interested in:
