(1 Tim. 1, 1–7; Luke 14, 12–15) When indicating who to invite to lunch or dinner, borrow a rule for yourself: do not do anything for your neighbors in the form of reward from them here. But that doesn't mean you'll waste your money. In due time everything will be rewarded to you. In the Discourse on the Mount about all godly deeds - prayer, fasting, almsgiving - the Lord commanded to do them secretly, why? Because the Heavenly Father will clearly reward those who do this (Matthew 6:4, 6, 18). Therefore, with all the labors of his life, a Christian must prepare for himself future bliss, build himself an eternal home and send provisions there for all eternity. This way of acting is not self-interest, because the interests themselves are limited to life here, and such a life is to the detriment of these interests. Moreover, it is impossible to live like this without faith, hope and love for the Lord. Acting according to the commandments in the hope of reward is also a detached action. Meanwhile, it is closer and more intelligible to the heart than anything else that is too ideal, such as, for example, doing good for the sake of good. You won't find this last one anywhere in Scripture. The highest motivation here is: do everything for the sake of the Lord and do not be afraid of losses. You might be interested in:
