(1 John 2:18–3:10; Mark 11:1–11) Yesterday, the parable of the prodigal invited us to return from dissipation to the good path. Now St. The Apostle John encourages us to do this, assuring us that if we do this, then when the Lord appears, we will be like Him. What can compare with such dignity?! I assume that hearing this, you are bursting with desire to achieve it yourself. A good and most beneficial deed! Do not delay in taking up the work through which this can be achieved. Read further: “everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure” (1 John 3:3). Do you have anything that needs to be cleansed? Of course, there will be quite a few things. Hurry, for where the Lord is, nothing unclean will enter. But don’t be horrified by the difficulty of the matter. The Lord Himself will be your helper in everything. Just wish with all your might and turn to the Lord for the help you need. His gracious power will be attracted to your efforts, and things will go easily and successfully. Just as there is no sin that defeats God’s mercy, so there is no moral impurity that can withstand the gracious power that consumes it. Just be on your part to not want this uncleanness, to make a feasible effort to reject it, and to resort with faith to the Lord. You might be interested in:
