(Gal.2, 11–16; Mark 5, 24–34) The bleeding woman, as soon as she touched the Lord with faith, and power came to her from the Lord, “immediately her fountain of blood dried up” (Mark 5:29). Bleeding is an image of passionate thoughts and plans, constantly exuding from a heart that has not yet been cleansed of all sympathy for sin; this is our sinful disease. It is felt by those who have repented and are zealous to keep themselves clean, not only externally, but internally. Such people see that evil thoughts constantly emanate from the heart, and they ache about it and seek healing for themselves. But this healing cannot be found either in oneself or in others; it is from the Lord, namely, when the soul touches the Lord and strength flows into the soul from the Lord, in other words, when tangible communication with the Lord occurs, which is evidenced by special warmth and inner burning, when I say this will happen, the soul immediately feels “that it has been healed of the disease.” The good is great; but how to achieve it? The bleeding woman pressed her way to the Lord and received healing; and we need to press forward to the Lord, to walk unlazyly through the tightness of internal and external exploits. For someone walking like this, everything is cramped, everything is cramped and the Lord is not visible, and then suddenly the Lord is here. And joy! The Kingdom of God does not come by discretion...
