(2 Cor. 3, 4–11; Matt. 23, 29–39) How many mercies the Lord showed to Jerusalem (i.e., the Jews)! And finally, he was forced to say: “Behold, your house is left empty” (Matthew 23:38). Everyone knows what the consequences were: the Jews are still homeless. Doesn't the same thing happen with the soul? The Lord cares about her and admonishes her in every possible way; the obedient one follows the indicated path, and the rebellious one remains in her opposition to God’s calling. But the Lord does not abandon her either, but uses all means to bring her to her senses. As perseverance increases, God’s influence also increases. But there is moderation for everything. The soul reaches the point of bitterness, and the Lord, seeing that nothing more can be done with it, leaves it in the hands of His fall - and it perishes, like Pharaoh. So, everyone who is struggling with passions should take a lesson from this that you cannot continue indulgence to the end with impunity. Isn’t it time to quit, and not just deny yourself from time to time, but to make a decisive turn? After all, no one can say when the border will be crossed. Maybe this is the end of God's patience.
