(Rom. 14, 6–9; Matt. 15, 32–39) And another time the Lord filled the people accompanying Him with a miraculous meal, in order to show that He is always ready to generously provide for the believing people. He could have done this every time, but he did not do it, so as not to wean him from the usual way of life, which He had established, approved and supported. This is also God’s general providence. The main comprehensive actions of industry were carried out at the beginning during the arrangement of all things; but having arranged everything and put it into motion, God did not bind Himself to anything, but left behind Him the freedom to bring in, when necessary, extraordinary help. He acts as the master of the house, who establishes order and, while maintaining them, does not, however, bind himself to them, but treats them with authority, with economic good intentions. Opponents of faith do not understand the significance of God's providence and, expanding it in their thoughts beyond its proper limits, and not seeing the implementation of their considerations in practice, they reject providence itself. The industry they demand is definitely not there; but undoubtedly there is something that the Lord God Himself wants to establish and maintain. You might be interested in:
