(1 Cor. 11, 31–12; Matt. 18, 1–11) “Unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18.3). Children's heart structure is exemplary. Children, until their selfish aspirations are revealed in them, are an example to follow. What do we see in children? Complete, unreasoning faith, unquestioning obedience, sincere love, carelessness and peace under the roof of parents, liveliness and freshness of life, with mobility and the desire to learn and improve. But the Savior especially means one of their properties - humility: “whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven” (Matthew 18:4). For if there is real humility, then all the virtues are there. It appears in perfection when other virtues have already blossomed in the heart and come to maturity; it is their crown and covering. This is the mystery of spiritual life in Christ Jesus our Lord. The higher someone is, the more humble he is, for he sees more clearly and palpably that it is not he who works in prosperity, but “the grace... which is in him” (1 Cor. 15:10); and this is “the measure of the stature of the fulfillment of Christ” (Eph. 4:13). For the main thing about Christ Jesus is that He “humbled Himself, becoming obedient even to the point of death” (Phil. 2:8). You might be interested in:
