(Rom. 12, 6–14; Matt. 9, 1–8) The Lord forgives the sins of the paralytic. I would be happy; but the crafty mind of the learned scribes says: “This one is a blasphemer” (Matthew 9:3). Even when the miracle of the healing of the paralytic followed in confirmation of that comforting truth for us that “the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins” (Matthew 9:6), - and then the people glorified God, but nothing was said about the scribes, it is true because at the same time they intertwined some crafty questions. A mind without faith is tricky; Every now and then he forges crafty suspicions and weaves blasphemies against the entire region of faith. Either he doesn’t believe in miracles, or he demands the most tangible miracle. But when it is given and obliges him to submit to faith, he is not ashamed to evade, perverting or crookedly interpreting the wonderful actions of God. He applies the same to the evidence of God’s truth. Both experimental and mental evidence are presented to him in sufficient number and strength: he covers them with doubt. Analyze all his presentations, and you will see that they are all one cunning, even though in his language this is considered cleverness, so you involuntarily come to the conclusion that cleverness and cunning are one and the same. In the area of faith, the apostle says: “We... have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16). Whose mind is outside the area of faith? The evil one. That is why wickedness became his distinguishing feature.
