(1 Cor. 4, 5–8; Matt. 13, 44–54) Arriving in Nazareth, the Lord did not find faith there. His visible simplicity prevented the Nazarenes from seeing the invisible glory and divinity. Doesn't the same thing happen to a Christian? Christian dogmas are very simple in appearance, but for the mind that enters into them, they represent a comprehensive, harmonious system that no created mind has ever generated or can generate. Pride, having cast a cursory glance at the simplicity of the Gospel, turns away from it and begins to build itself a building of knowledge, as it seems to it, a huge one, from which, as it were, wide views open up. In reality, what happens is that the building is piled up with maps, and the horizon is made up of mirages, ghosts of a heated imagination. But at least don't tell him. He and his brothers are ready to immediately throw anyone who wants to dissuade him from the mountain into the abyss with their critical attacks, but the truth always passes unharmed among them and goes to other souls capable of accepting it.
