(Rom. 15, 17–29; Matt. 12:46–13:3) “For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven, he is My brother, and sister, and mother” (Matthew 12:50). The Lord makes it clear by this that the spiritual kinship that He came to plant and grow on earth is not the same as carnal kinship, although in the form of relationships it is the same as carnal kinship. And there are fathers and mothers in it - these are those who give birth to the word of truth or the gospel, as the Apostle Paul says. And there are brothers and sisters in it - these are those who are spiritually born of one and grow in one spirit. The related combination here is based on the action of grace. But it is not external, not superficial, but is just as deep and vital as the carnal one, only it takes place in another area - the highest, most important. That is why it prevails over the carnal, and when need requires it, it sacrifices it to its spiritual interests, without regret, in full confidence that this is a sacrifice pleasing to God and required by Him.
