Неделя третья по Пятидесятнице

(Rom. 5, 1–10; Matt. 6, 22–33) “If your eye is pure, your whole body will be bright; if your eye is evil, then your whole body will be dark” (Matthew 6:22-23). The mind here is called the eye, and the entire composition of the soul is called the body. Thus, when the mind is simple, then the soul is light; when the mind is evil, then the soul is dark. What is a simple mind and an evil mind? The simple mind is the one that accepts everything as it is written in the word of God, and is undoubtedly convinced that everything is as it is written: there is no cunning, no hesitation or hesitation in it. An evil mind is one that approaches the word of God with craftiness, cunning questioning and searching. He cannot believe directly, but he brings the word of God under his own speculation. He approaches it not as a student, but as a judge and critic, in order to try to see what it says, and then either mock or haughtily say: “Yes, this is not bad.” Such a mind does not have firm positions, because, obviously, it does not believe the word of God, and its speculations are always unstable: today it is this way, tomorrow it is different. That is why he has only hesitations, bewilderments, unanswered questions; all his things are out of place, and he walks in the dark, groping. A simple mind sees everything clearly: every thing has its own specific character, defined by the word of God, therefore every thing has its place, and it knows exactly how to behave in relation to what - it means it walks along open, visible roads, with full confidence that they lead to the real goal.
