(Acts 13:13–24; John 6:5–14) The disciples told the Lord to let the people go and buy food in the villages, but the Lord told them: “They don’t need to go; you give them something to eat" (Matthew 14:16) This was before the miracle of feeding five thousand people, except women and children, with five loaves and two fish. Such an event, which had special significance in the life of the Lord, provides another lesson. The people are the image of humanity, hungry and thirsty for truth. When the Lord said to the apostles: “Give them something to eat,” he foreshadowed their future service to the human race - to feed it with truth. The apostles did this work for their time; for subsequent times, they transferred this ministry to the shepherd who succeeded them. And the Lord extends his speech to the present shepherd: “Give you something to eat for your people.” And the shepherd must keep the obligation on his conscience to feed the people with the truth. In the church there should be an incessant preaching of the word of God. Silent shepherding - what kind of shepherding? But it is silent a lot, extremely silent.
