(Acts 12:12–17; John 8:42–51) The Lord explained to the Jews why they did not believe in Him, in what way do you think? Because He tells them the truth: “But because I speak the truth, you do not believe Me” (John 8:45). The lie turned, as they say, into their flesh and blood and made the truth inconceivable for them. Why don’t they believe now? That's why; The Lord speaks the truth, that’s why they don’t believe. But how can this be? After all, they are all scientists and they are the only ones who talk about the truth? There are a lot of speeches, but no action. The weaving of their systems is the same as the weaving of spider webs; only they do not notice this fragility. The beginnings of their systems are without foundation, and their subsequent turns are without evidence; but they are still satisfied with them. Such a urge has arisen for assumptions that it seems that they alone constitute the entire content of their minds; and yet it has the reputation of being a solid education. They have cast a fog of dreams over the few facts they have obtained; and these latter rise in this fog in a completely different form than they really are; however, this is reputed to be an area of ​​immutable truth.
